Influence of porosity and architecture on the mechanical and acoustic properties of FFF‐printed PLA structures

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
The influence of porosity and infill pattern (architecture) on the mechanical and acoustic properties of FFF‐printed PLA is investigated. Ultrasonic analysis highlights the dominant role of interlayer porosity, revealing anisotropic behavior and a transition in elastic properties with increasing porosity.

In Situ Curing‐Enabled 3D Printing of Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Thermosetting Composites

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
In situ curing‐enabled the 3D printing of continuous fiber/thermoset composites, which were reviewed. Particularly, four types of in situ curing, were discussed, including Radiation‐induced curing, photothermal curing, electrothermal curing, and frontal polymerization. AI‐integrated printing was also analyzed.

Sublethal herbicide exposure alters cotton susceptibility to aphid infestation

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Sublethal herbicide exposure altered cotton susceptibility to aphids. Aphid severity was highest when applications occurred at early vegetative stages and declined as the crop matured. In glasshouse, herbicide effects were dose‐dependent. Abstract BACKGROUND Herbicides remain vital tools for weed control, yet their effects can extend beyond weeds to ...

In planta fluxapyroxad gradients from seed treatment differentially select fungicide‐sensitive and reduced‐sensitive genotypes of Pyrenophora teres f. maculata

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Spatial concentration gradients of seed‐applied fluxapyroxad within barley create heterogeneous exposure environments, driving differential suppression of succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor‐sensitive Pyrenophora teres f. maculata isolates and enrichment of reduced‐sensitive genotypes, thereby shaping within‐host fungicide resistance selection dynamics ...

Robotics for Crop Pollination: Recent Advances and Future Direction

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is great interest in alternative pollination strategies for crop production in the face of climate change and perennial threats to the traditional pollination mechanisms. This review explores the potential of robotic pollination as a promising solution to these challenges affecting crop fertilization, agricultural sustainability, and ...

UAV‐Based Precision Seed Dropping for Automated Reforestation

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wildfires and deforestation pose significant threats to forest ecosystems, motivating scalable methods for reforestation beyond labor‐intensive cultivation of native forest seedlings in nurseries. To enable large‐scale direct seeding of native species, this paper presents the design, analysis, and field evaluation of a UAV‐based seed‐dropping ...

Sprinkling Hogs in Trucks to Reduce Losses from Heat

open access: yes
Excerpts from the report Summary: In-transit shipping losses of live hogs have been a serious problem in the livestock industry. With increased use of motortrucks, the problem has become acute on long-distance shipments made during hot weather.
