High Thermoelectric Performance Achieved by Manipulating the Band Structure and Lattice Dislocations in n‐Type Ge/Pb/Br Codoped Polycrystalline SnSe

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Pb/Ge/Br codoping in n‐type polycrystalline SnSe induces band convergence and high‐density dislocations, yielding a high power factor of 7.47 μW cm−1 K−2 and ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. Consequently, a peak ZT of 1.6 is achieved, overcoming the traditional performance limitations of n‐type SnSe.

Strangeness and pion production as signals of QCD phase transition

open access: yes, 2005
A systematic analysis of data on strangeness and pion production in nucleon–nucleon and central nucleus–nucleus collisions is presented. It is shown that at all collision energies the pion/baryon and strangeness/pion ratios indicate saturation with the ...

Alkali‐Metal Base Catalyzed Electrocyclization of Isoprene Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Simple and abundant alkali‐metal base catalysis in combination with Lewis basic polyamines enables the electrocyclization of isoprene‐derived trienes to cycloheptadienes under neat conditions. Mechanistic insight supported by DFT guides a scalable route to seven‐membered carbocycles which, after reduction, give saturated cycloalkanes relevant as ...

Control of Branchionus sp. and Amoeba sp. in cultures of Arthrospira sp. Control de Branchionus sp. y Amoeba sp. en cultivos de Arthrospira sp.

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2012
Cultivation of cyanobacterium Arthrospira sp. has been developed in many countries for the production of proteins, pigments and other compounds. Outdoor mass cultures are often affected by biological contamination, drastically reducing productivity as far as bringing death. This study evaluates the control of Branchionus sp. and Amoeba sp.

Safety soft sensor development for pilot‐scale ilmenite electric arc furnace using long short‐term memory‐based architecture

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Ilmenite electric arc furnaces (EAFs) are used for smelting titanium‐iron oxide ore at high temperatures generated by electrical arcs to produce titanium slag and pig iron. As these units are pushed to their limits, ensuring safe and reliable operation becomes challenging.
