MiR‐30a‐5p mediates epileptogenesis in epilepsy models by targeting SOX4 to regulate the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The pathogenesis of epilepsy is closely associated with neuronal synaptic plasticity. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) can regulate various biological processes by binding to specific sequences on target genes. This study employs bioinformatics, molecular dynamics, and experimental approaches to investigate the mechanism by which MiR‐30a‐5p treats

Thermochronologic Constraints on the Extensional History of the Ibex Hills, Southeastern Black Mountains, Death Valley, California

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A. Modeled T‐t paths for samples in the northern Ibex Hills, showing steady cooling throughout much of the Cenozoic, until rapid Miocene cooling. B. Weighted mean paths for each sample in this study. Note that all show a rapid cooling event at or just after 10 Ma, which is interpreted to represent exhumation as a result of regional extenstion ...

Unintended Consequences of Life‐Saving Pharmaceutical Innovations: How HAART Led to the Resurgence of Syphilis

open access: yesHealth Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection that can lead to serious health complications, was almost eliminated in the United States by 2000. But since then, its incidence began to increase, recently reaching a 60‐year peak. We suggest that the introduction of the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) drug regimen, which transformed HIV

RAMANUJAN’S SPT-CRANK FOR MARKED OVERPARTITIONS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Research -GRANTHAALAYAH, 2015
In 1916, Ramanujan’s showed the spt-crank for marked overpartitions. The corresponding special functions ,  and are found in Ramanujan’s notebooks, part 111. In 2009, Bingmann, Lovejoy and Osburn defined the generating functions for , and . In 2012, Andrews, Garvan, and Liang  defined the  in terms of partition pairs.

Different Pattern of Treatment Failure After Chemoradiation Between p16+ and p16− Patients Affected by Oropharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) exhibits distinct clinical behaviors according to HPV/p16 status and smoking exposure. While HPV‐positive OPC generally shows superior survival, differences in recurrence patterns remain unclear. Methods A retrospective multicenter analysis of 674 AJCC VII edition Stage III–IVa/b OPC patients treated with ...

Complement C3 mediates adolescent social isolation‐induced hippocampal synaptic deficits and sex‐specific emotional dysfunction

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Adolescent social isolation disrupts hippocampal function and exacerbates emotional symptoms, with sex‐specific patterns, as shown by human studies. In mice, social isolation decreased hippocampal synaptic density and calcium signaling, upregulated complement proteins, and activated complement‐mediated microglial synaptic phagocytosis.

Quantification of 3-ketodihydrosphingosine using HPLC-ESI-MS/MS to study SPT activity in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2018
Serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) catalyzes the rate-limiting step of condensation of L-serine and palmitoyl-CoA to form 3-ketodihydrosphingosine (3KDS). Here, we report a HPLC-ESI-MS/MS method to directly quantify 3KDS generated by SPT.
