Taxonomic and morphological revision of the Family Squalidae Blainville, 1816 (Elasmobranchii: Chondrichthyes: Squaliformes)

open access: yes, 2016
Squalidae compreende dois gêneros de tubarões, Squalus e Cirrhigaleus cujas espécies apresentam taxonomia complexa devido à dificuldade de distinção morfológica entre elas, associado a uma incerteza à aplicação de várias espécies nominais.

The phylogenomic position of the smooth lanternshark Etmopterus pusillus (Squaliformes: Etmopteridae) inferred from the mitochondrial genome

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2016
In this study, the complete mitogenome of the Smooth lanternshark Etmopterus pusillus (Squaliformes: Etmopteridae) was firstly determined. It was 16,729 bp, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and 1 putative control region with typical order to that of most other vertebrates. Its nucleotide base composition is 31.3%

Evolution of placoid scales in deep-water sharks: from morphology to atomic composition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Deep-sea environment represents a wide proportion of the world surface. However, it still remains largely mysterious and poorly studied. Deep-sea ecosystems show a lush and extremely diversified fauna, which sometimes presents surprising characteristics ...

Etmopterus alphus n. sp.: a new lanternshark (Squaliformes: Etmopteridae) from the south-western Indian Ocean

open access: yes, 2016
A new species of lanternshark, Etmopterus alphus (Squaliformes: Etmopteridae), is described from the south-western Indian Ocean. The new species resembles other members of the ‘Etmopterus lucifer’ clade in having linear rows of dermal denticles and most ...

Large Centrophorus (Chondrichthyes, Squaliformes) of the Belgian Neogene continental shelf

open access: yes, 2012
A number of isolated teeth of gulper sharks (genus Centrophorus Müller & Henle, 1837) have been recovered from Neogene sands in the Antwerp area, marking the first occurrence of the genus Centrophorus in the fossil record of Belgium and the North Sea Basin.

Contributions to the study of the comparative morphology of teeth and other relevant ichthyodorulites in living supraspecific taxa of Chondrichtyan fishes. Part A: Selachii. 3: Order: Squaliformes - Families: Echinorhinidae, Oxynotidae and Squalidae [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The teeth of nearly all supraspecific taxa of squaliformes are described and illustrated by SEM photos. The tooth morphology allows a direct assignment to all these taxa and some proposals of taxonomic adjustments.

HISTOPATOLOGIA NO FÍGADO DE Prionace glauca (CHONDRICHTHYES, SQUALIFORMES, CARCHARHINIDAE) CAUSADA POR Hepatoxylon trichiuri (EUCESTODA, TRYPANORHYNCHA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Estudos histológicos do fígado de 38 espécimes de Prionace glauca (Linnaeus, 1758) parasitados por pós-larvas de Hepatoxylon trichiuri (Holten, 1802) permitiram descrever alterações do tecido e estrutura deste órgão.
