Composite Squeeze Casting of Large Parts
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The article aims to put forward a kind of mold structure and corresponding composite squeeze casting process for large parts. Example will base on an Aluminum alloy wheel hub of heavy-duty tuck. Author analyzes the manufacturing production workflow of the corresponding equipments and the main parameters of process. The composite squeeze casting process

Squeeze casting of magnesium alloys and their composites
Journal of Materials Science, 1998Squeeze casting, also known as liquid metal forging, extrusion casting and pressure crystallization, is a process in which molten metal soldifies in a die under an applied high pressure. The concept of squeeze casting was invented in Russia over 100 years ago.

Increasing Performances of En AB-46000 by Squeeze Casting
Key Engineering Materials, 2014The evolution of the mold temperature during squeeze casting of EN-AB46000 aluminum alloy has been correlated with the final mechanical performances of cast ingots. Starting from a material model which expresses hardness and yielding stress of cast aluminum alloys as a function of the cooling rate during the melt solidification, an experimental ...

Evaluation of heat-transfer coefficients at the casting/die interface in squeeze casting
International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 1996The solidification of an aluminum alloy under high pressure has been investigated. The interfacial heat- transfer coefficient between the casting and the mould varies with time after pouring the molten metal into a mould cavity and therefore plays an important role in determining solidification sequences.

Oxide film casting defects in squeeze cast metal matrix composites
Materials Letters, 1996Squeeze casting is a commonly used method of producing metal matrix composites (MMC's). It is especially popular in the automotive industry for the production of pistons for diesel engines. This paper describes a casting defect associated with the production of metal matrix composites by this method.

Simulation of transport processes in squeeze casting
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007Abstract In squeeze casting process, molten metal is cooled and solidified at a very high level of pressure around and over 40 MPa. The time required for solidification is substantially reduced due to enhanced heat transfer at the mould surfaces under high pressure.
