In recent years, southern rice black-streaked dwarf virus (SRBSDV) has spread rapidly in Southern China and caused a serious viral dwarf disease. The white-backed planthopper (WBPH) Sogatella furcifera is a main vector for SRBSDD transmission.

Summary Plant viruses often suppress jasmonic acid (JA)‐mediated defences through disturbing JA signalling or biosynthesis pathways to benefit their own infection. Few studies have examined how the precursors of JA biosynthesis are regulated by viral infection.

Occurrence and integrated control of major rice diseases in China
Rice is constantly under threat from a variety of pathogens. This review highlights the major diseases affecting rice in China, including three fungal diseases, two bacterial diseases, two viral diseases, and one nematode. The review also proposes future directions for an integrated approach to control these significant rice diseases.

ABSTRACT Two types of CRISPR/Cas systems (Cas9 and Cas13) have been used to combat eukaryotic viruses successfully. In this study, we established resistance to the DNA virus BSCTV and RNA virus TMV in Nicotiana benthamiana using the CRISPR‐Cas12a multiplex gene editing system.

Investigation on subcellular localization of Rice stripe virus in its vector small brown planthopper by electron microscopy [PDF]
Background Rice stripe virus (RSV), which is transmitted by small brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus Fallén, SBPH), has been reported to be epidemic and cause severe rice stripe disease in rice fields in many East Asian countries ...

Three odorant-binding proteins are involved in the behavioral response of Sogatella furcifera to rice plant volatiles [PDF]
Plant volatiles play an important role in regulating insect behavior. Odorant binding proteins (OBPs) are involved in the first step of the olfactory signal transduction pathway and plant volatiles recognition.
