On the Long-range Dependence of Fractional Poisson and Negative Binomial Processes

open access: yes, 2016
We study the long-range dependence (LRD) of the increments of the fractional Poisson process (FPP), the fractional negative binomial process (FNBP) and the increments of the FNBP.

Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.

3D‐Nanoprinted Fluidically Steerable Soft Robotic Microcatheters

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work introduces a ∼3‐French (1 mm‐in‐diameter) soft robotic microcatheter fabricated by means of two‐photon direct laser writing. The 3D‐printed microcatheter enables remote, on‐demand steering via microfluidic actuation for guidewire‐free navigation of vascular networks as well as microcatheter‐mediated delivery of fluidic payloads to target ...

The new visceral adiposity index outperforms traditional obesity indices as a predictor of subclinical renal damage in Chinese individuals: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Endocrine Disorders, 2023
Background The new visceral adiposity index (NVAI) was superior to previous obesity indices in predicting cardiovascular diseases among Asians. Nevertheless, the utility of the NVAI for predicting chronic kidney disease is still unclear. The objective of

Effectiveness of the Food-Safe Anaesthetic Isobutanol in the Live Transport of Tropical Spiny Lobster Species

open access: yesFishes, 2022
The strong demand for live spiny lobsters in Asian markets is being met by long-distance airfreight. Holding lobsters out of water during transportation often results in mortalities due to the accumulation of metabolites, especially ammonia.

Translational and rotational friction on a colloidal rod near a wall [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present particulate simulation results for translational and rotational friction components of a shish-kebab model of a colloidal rod with aspect ratio (length over diameter) $L/D = 10$ in the presence of a planar hard wall.

Advancing Efficient Error Reduction in DNA Data Storage Systems with Deep Learning‐Based Denoising Models

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Deep learning‐based denoising models are applied to DNA data storage systems to enhance error reduction and data fidelity. By integrating DnCNN with DNA sequence encoding methods, the study demonstrates significant improvements in image quality and correction of substitution errors, revealing a promising path toward robust and efficient DNA‐based ...

Mesoscopic model for the fluctuating hydrodynamics of binary and ternary mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A recently introduced particle-based model for fluid dynamics with continuous velocities is generalized to model immiscible binary mixtures. Excluded volume interactions between the two components are modeled by stochastic multiparticle collisions which ...

Temporal Modeling of Amyloid and Tau Trajectories in Alzheimer's Disease Using PET and Plasma Biomarkers

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to compare positron emission tomography (PET) and plasma‐based temporal modeling of amyloid and tau biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease. Methods Longitudinal amyloid PET (n = 1,097, mean age ± SD = 72.5 ± 7.38 year, 51.4% male), 18F‐flortaucipir tau‐PET (n = 230, 74.3 ± 7.18 year, 52.2% female), and Fujirebio Lumipulse plasma p‐
