Otolaryngology in Medical Education: Hands-on Training at an SRFC Community Site Improves Medical Student Knowledge and Skills

open access: yesJournal of Student-Run Clinics
Background: There are known otolaryngology education gaps and exposure inequalities in existing medical school curricula. It has been shown that students participating in otolaryngology instruction sessions emerge with increased knowledge and confidence in skills. The population our student-run free clinic serves is high-risk for head and neck cancers,

Region‐to‐Region Unidirectional Connection In Vitro Brain Model for Studying Directional Propagation of Neuropathologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 33, 23 April 2026.
A unidirectional cerebral organoid–organoid neural circuit is established using a microfluidic platform, enabling controlled directional propagation of electrical signals, neuroinflammatory cues, and neurodegenerative disease–related proteins between spatially separated organoids.

Tin‐Oxo Nanocluster Extreme UV Photoresists Equipped with Chemical Features for Atmospheric Stability and High EUV Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 27, 2 April 2026.
Fluoroalkyl‐functionalized tin–oxo nanoclusters (N‐TOC6) enable robust pattern formation through ligand crosslinking under EUV exposure without thermal processing. Sn–F coordination mitigates the Lewis acidity of Sn centers, suppressing reactions with airborne molecules and improving post‐exposure pattern stability.

Temperature‐Induced Nonvolatile Switching through Thermal Hysteresis in a Gd3Fe5O12/Ho3Fe5O12 Exchange‐Coupled Rare‐Earth Iron Garnet Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 29, 9 April 2026.
Reducing power consumption in spintronic memory remains a major challenge due to the need for high current densities. A bilayer of gadolinium and holmium iron garnets enables purely temperature‐induced, nonvolatile magnetic switching with bistable states within a ±25 K range. This approach achieves up to 66‐fold lower energy use than current spin–orbit

Quasi‐Single‐Mode Polaritonic Crystal for Hyperbolic Phonon‐Polaritons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 13, 3 April 2026.
Near‐field study of the polaritonic Fourier crystal with α‐MoO3 reveals that the hyperbolic phonon‐polaritons within the Type‐I Reststrahlen band may form a quasi‐single‐mode Bloch wave where only the fundamental mode propagates in the crystal. Our results demonstrate the realization of a quasi‐single‐mode regime for the inherently multimode hyperbolic

Profiling G protein-coupled receptors of Fasciola hepatica identifies orphan rhodopsins unique to phylum Platyhelminthes

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance, 2018
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are established drug targets. Despite their considerable appeal as targets for next-generation anthelmintics, poor understanding of their diversity and function in parasitic helminths has thwarted progress towards GPCR-

Vaginitis testing outcomes by documented symptom status in a student-run free clinic: a retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Background Vaginitis is a common gynaecologic condition in patients assigned female at birth in the United States, most often caused by bacterial vaginosis (BV), vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), or trichomoniasis vaginalis (TV). Symptoms such as discharge,
