Confirming the impact origin of the São Miguel do Tapuio structure, northeastern Brazil

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The São Miguel do Tapuio structure (SMT) is a remarkable, nearcircular feature of about 21 km diameter, centered at 5°37.6′ S, 41°23.3′ W in Piauí state, northeastern Brazil. The structure is located within the sedimentary strata of the Paleozoic–Mesozoic Parnaíba Basin and predominantly comprises sandstones of the Devonian Pimenteiras and ...

Natural Resources and Political Patronage in Africa: An Ethnicity Level Analysis

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the effect of resource discoveries on ethnicity‐level political patronage in Africa using a large geospatial dataset of 254 ethnic groups in 15 countries over the period 1960–2004. We find that the first (or single first) resource discovery in a virgin ethnic homeland increases the share of cabinet posts of that ethnicity.

Lineament mapping using sig and optical and radar remote sensing: The case of the Tafilalet plain (Southeastern Morocco) [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
This research focuses on the mapping of lineaments in the Tafilalet plain, located in south-eastern Morocco, using a combination of optical (Landsat 8), radar (Sentinel-1A) and 10 m resolution digital terrain model (SRTM) remote sensing.

Integration of LIDAR and IFSAR for mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
LiDAR and IfSAR data is now widely used for a number of applications, particularly those needing a digital elevation model. The data is often complementary to other data such as aerial imagery and high resolution satellite data.

Quantitative analysis of channel characteristics of distributive fluvial systems

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Distributive fluvial systems (DFSs) are characterised by a radial distributive channel pattern in planform and dominate modern‐day sedimentary basins. Where aggradation occurs, such as in sedimentary basins, there is increased preservation potential, and therefore, DFSs are hypothesised to constitute a significant portion of the continental ...

Analysis of relief morphometry by global DEM in the southern part of the European territory of Russia

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Естественные науки, 2020
The accuracy of four global digital elevation models (GDEMs) was assessed at five key sites in the European part of Russia. Errors observed in the morphometric parameters were analyzed by comparing GDEMs representing the relief of the selected area with ...

An Overview of Tsunami Hazards in the Southwest Pacific Ocean

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 2, June 2026.
The southwest Pacific region is geologically complex and exhibits all the principal causes of tsunami generation. While contemporary events and historical catalogs indicate that trans‐Pacific tsunamis have affected this area (∼18% of tsunamis reported globally), it is unique in that a large part of the tsunami effects over the ∼200‐year historical ...
