Protocol Architectures: SS7 and TCP/IP
2003This chapter presents an overview of SS7 and TCP/IP architectures. It describes the key components of each type of architecture, its protocols, and a list of issues to consider.

Call-routing analysis using SS7 data
Bell Labs Technical Journal, 2005Signaling System 7 (SS7) data contains network usage information that is not available from any other source. SS7 data is standalone source data. Because it is not dependent on a support system or on switch translations, it can be used to accurately trace and time all calls entering or leaving any class 4 or class 5 switch.

Exploiting lookahead in parallel simulation of SS7 telecommunication networks
1993 Euromicro Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2002This paper describes techniques used to optimise the performance of parallel simulation of SS7 telecommunication networks. A basic parallel simulation model of an SS7 network and the conservative implementation of the model are discussed and experimental results on the performance of the simulator are examined.

Estimation of SS7 traffic in UMTS network
Proceedings of GLOBECOM '95, 2002In this paper, we present a general model for the prediction of signaling traffic in a network where the terminal mobility shares the signaling infrastructure of fixed services. The model uses state transitions to estimate calling patterns and usage of services. In addition, methods of mapping state transitions to physical movements are presented.

Performance measurements of the SS7/intelligent network
MILCOM 91 - Conference record, 2002The author addresses the architecture of the intelligent network (IN) based on the Signaling System Hash 7 (SS7) network. He proposes and defines a system architecture design of the intelligent network based on the implementation of the SS7 network with the conventional service control points. (SCPs). This results in less likelihood of failure and more

PROMS: a PRO-active Monitoring System for SS7 networks
International Journal of Network Management, 2000In this paper, we propose a PRO-active Monitoring System lPROMSr for SS7 networks, which actively monitors all signaling network management messages of SS7 networks, alerts operators when there is a potential network error, and provides intelligent diagnosis based on fuzzy logic and neural networks. On the design of a hierarchical SS7 network: a graph theoretical approach
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1994Discusses the design of Signaling System No. 7 networks based on graph theoretical methods. A hierarchical network topology is derived by combining the advantage of the hierarchical network structure with the realization of node disjoint routes between nodes of the network.

ISDN User Part Traffic Optimization in the SS7 Network
International Journal of Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and Networking, 2013The state of the art Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile core networks predominantly use Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) for transporting voice across networks. Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) designed for LTE network based on an IP Multimedia System (IMS)) framework is the key to enriched voice communication services for ...

TMN-based schedulers for SS7 routing verification tests
Computer Communications, 1997Routing verification tests have been specified by the ITU-T as open system interconnection (OSI) systems management-based functions to audit routing tables in live signalling system no. 7 (SS7) networks. They generate a considerable amount of messages and can easily trigger congestion.
