The standards aspects of SS7 network management

Journal of Network and Systems Management, 1994
Signaling System No7 (SS7) is an internationally standardized general purpose Common Channel Signaling (CCS) system. It is a key component of modern telecommunications networks. Its malfunctioning can cause major problems, as demonstrated in recent history by the spectacular breakdowns induced in public networks by its nonperformance.

Multi-protocol authentication for SIP/SS7 mobile network

Computer Communications, 2008
The communication paradigm has rapidly shifted from wireless mobile networks to All-Internet Protocol (IP) networks such as Multimedia Sub-system (IMS), Multi-Media Domain (MMD), and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), led by service industry leaders and communication manufacturers.

Performance measurements of the SS7/intelligent network

MILCOM 91 - Conference record, 2002
The author addresses the architecture of the intelligent network (IN) based on the Signaling System Hash 7 (SS7) network. He proposes and defines a system architecture design of the intelligent network based on the implementation of the SS7 network with the conventional service control points. (SCPs). This results in less likelihood of failure and more

Estimation of SS7 traffic in UMTS network

Proceedings of GLOBECOM '95, 2002
In this paper, we present a general model for the prediction of signaling traffic in a network where the terminal mobility shares the signaling infrastructure of fixed services. The model uses state transitions to estimate calling patterns and usage of services. In addition, methods of mapping state transitions to physical movements are presented.

Appendix 3: Example SS7 message sequence coding

2002
SS7 SCCP and TCAP support the non-connection-oriented messaging transactions required by IN. The operation of SCCP and TCAP were outlined in Chapter 3 and we now illustrate the message coding details for a typical IN transaction. In fact the particular message flow illustrated here is for a mobile call involving a CAP (CAMEL application protocol ...
