Heat‐evolved algal symbionts enhance bleaching tolerance of adult corals without trade‐off against growth

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 29, Issue 24, Page 6945-6968, December 2023., 2023
This is the first laboratory study to show that chemically bleached adult corals can acquire laboratory developed, heat‐evolved algal symbionts, and that these symbionts enhance thermotolerance of adult corals without a trade‐off against growth under ambient temperature.
