A nomenclature for fungal PCR primers with examples from intron-containing SSU rDNA

Mycologia, 1996
We present a compilation of polymerase chain reaction primers (oligonucleotides) used to amplify and sequence the small subunit of nuclear ribosomal DNA. To simplify use of these primers we designed a nomenclature that defines the location of each relative to Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Patterns of Group I Intron Presence in Nuclear SSU rDNA of the Lichen Family Parmeliaceae

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 2007
Group I introns are commonly reported within nuclear SSU ribosomal DNA of eukaryotic micro-organisms, especially in lichen-forming fungi. We have studied the primary and secondary structure of 70 new nuclear SSU rDNA group I introns of Parmeliaceae (Ascomycota: Lecanorales) and compared them with those available in databases, covering more than 60 ...

Nuclear and Nucleomorph SSU rDNA Phylogeny in the Cryptophyta and the Evolution of Cryptophyte Diversity

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 2002
The plastid-bearing members of the Cryptophyta contain two functional eukaryotic genomes of different phylogenetic origin, residing in the nucleus and in the nucleomorph, respectively. These widespread and diverse protists thus offer a unique opportunity to study the coevolution of two different eukaryotic genomes within one group of organisms. In this

Erratum: Multiple Origins of Lichen Symbioses in Fungi Suggested by SSU rDNA Phylogeny

Science, 1995
In the report "Multiple origins of lichen symbioses in fungi suggested by SSU rDNA phylogeny" by A. Gargas et al . (9 June, p. 1492), the color code was omitted from the caption of figure 1 on page 1493. The following sentence should have appeared at the end of the caption.

New SSU-rDNA sequences for eleven colpodeans (Ciliophora, Colpodea) and description of Apocyrtolophosis nov. gen

European Journal of Protistology, 2014
Using 11 new SSU-rDNA sequences, we analyze relationships within the class Colpodea, especially of some uncommon taxa, such as Kalometopia duplicata, Cyrtolophosis minor, and Jaroschia sumptuosa. The sequences do not change the basic structure of the molecular Colpodea tree, i.e., all belong to one of the four molecular clades recognized by Foissner et

Small insertions at a shared position in the SSU rDNA of Lecanorales (lichen-forming Ascomycetes)

Current Genetics, 1998
Small insertions are reported from the SSU rDNA of the genera Cladonia, Cladina, Stereocaulon, Pertusaria and Physcia (lichen-forming Lecanorales, Ascomycetes). The insertions range in length from 56 to 81 nucleotides, and occur at a shared position, 330 (relative to Escherichia coli), in a semi-conserved region of the SSU rDNA.

Variability of Nuclear SSU-rDNA Group Introns Within Septoria Species: Incongruence with Host Sequence Phylogenies

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 2007
We report structural features and distribution patterns of 26 different group I introns located at three distinct nucleotide positions in nuclear small subunit ribosomal DNA (SSU-rDNA) of 10 Septoria and 4 other anamorphic species related to the teleomorphic genus Mycosphaerella.
