Wandering ST-Segment Elevation [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2003
A 52-year-old man with a history of surgical repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm 9 years earlier had a sudden onset of chest and back pain. His primary physician diagnosed acute myocardial infarction on the basis of ST elevation in leads V2 and V3 (Figure 1A). ST segments in leads I and aVL became elevated 30 minutes later, when chest pain worsened (

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Usefulness of body surface mapping to differentiate patients with Brugada syndrome from patients with asymptomatic Brugada syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We attempted to determine the usefulness of body surface mapping (BSM) for differentiating patients with Brugada syndrome (BS) from patients with asymptomatic Brugada syndrome (ABS).

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Significance of reciprocal ST segment depression in ST elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, 2017
Background: The significance of reciprocal ST segment depression during acute myocardial infarction has been an area of debate, whether it is a sign of multivessel disease, ischemia at a distance or merely a benign electrical phenomenon.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Diffusely Elevated ST Segments on Electrocardiography [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA Cardiology, 2016
A man in his early 70s walked into the emergency department with a 4-day history of fever and tingling sensation in the chest.Hismedical historywas significantwithhypertension, intracranial hemorrhage, and chronic kidneydisease (CKD).Onarrival, his bloodpressure was 130/64 mm Hg, heart rate was 104 beats/min, respiratory rate was 32 breaths/ min, body ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

ST-segment elevation and ventricular fibrillation shortly after transseptal puncture for left atrial catheter ablation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2013
A 47-year-old man with drug-resistant paroxysmal atrial fibrillation underwent left atrial (LA) catheter ablation. After sheaths were inserted into the LA using the Brockenbrough method, he complained of angina and developed ST-segment elevation in the ...
