Letter by Rodriguez-Granillo et al Regarding Article, "Acute Myocardial Infarction: Changes in Patient Characteristics, Management, and 6-Month Outcomes Over a Period of 20 Years in the FAST-MI Program (French Registry of Acute ST-Elevation or Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) 1995 to 2015".

open access: yesCirculation, 2018
We have read with interest the study by Puymirat et al1 updating the management and mortality data of patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction by using nationwide French registries 5 years apart from 1995 to 2015.

Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Outbreak on ST-Segment–Elevation Myocardial Infarction Care in Hong Kong, China

open access: yesCirculation. Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, 2020
Acute ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a disease of high mortality and morbidity, and primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is the typical recommended therapy.1,2 Systems of care have been established to expedite PPCI ...

Predictors of left ventricular ejection function decline in young patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yesRevista da Associação Médica Brasileira, 2022
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: A decrease in the left ventricular ejection fraction (≤40%) in the setting of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is a significant predictor of mortality in the young ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction population.

Prognostic Implications of Global Longitudinal Strain by Feature-Tracking Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

open access: yesCirculation Cardiovascular Imaging, 2019
BACKGROUND The high accuracy of feature-tracking cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging qualifies this novel modality as potential gold standard for myocardial strain analyses in ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients; however, the incremental ...

Mistaken ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesWestern Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2015
A 66-year-old female was transferred from an outside hospital for possible ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The patient reported feeling poorly for the last day, with epigastric pain, nausea, and multiple episodes of vomiting. Patient’s medical history was significant for diabetes mellitus, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

The predictors of no reflow phenomenon after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction: A meta-analysis

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2018
Objective To investigate the no reflow risk factors after percutaneous coronary intervention in ST elevation myocardial infarction patients. Method Sample size, mean ± standard deviation (SD) or frequencies (percent) of normal and no reflow groups were ...

Helicobacter pylori Seropositivity in Patients with Interleukin-1 Polymorphisms Is Significantly Associated with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Helicobacter pylori infection and interleukin-1 polymorphisms are associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer. We examined the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori seropositivity and interleukin-1 polymorphisms between ST-segment elevation ...

Temporal Trends and Short‐ and Long‐Term Mortality of People With Acute Myocardial Infarction and Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Nationwide Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We investigated whether a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects the quality of inpatient acute myocardial infarction (AMI) care and long‐term mortality post‐AMI. Methods We analyzed data from 784,091 adults, 6,047 with a diagnosis of RA, from England and Wales hospitalized with AMI between 2005 and 2019 from the Myocardial Ischaemia ...
