Stab Resistance of Thermoset-Impregnated UHMWPE Fabrics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2010
The stab resistance of thermoset(TS) impregnated, woven UHMWPE fabric with additional steel fabrics was investigated under dynamic stab testing conditions. Vinyl-ester resin was coated on the UHMWPE fabrics with hand lay-up process to fabricate the composite and the mental fabrics were laminated on the composites.

Advanced Stab Resistance Fabrics Utilizing Shear Thickening Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2011
A series of shear thickening fluids (STF) were prepared and characterized by Rheometer. The stab resistance of Kevlar and ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) non-woven fabrics impregnated with STF were investigated and found to exhibit significant improvements over neat fabric targets of equivalent weight.

Stab resistance of UHMWPE fiber composites impregnated with thermoplastics

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2014
Compared with aramid fabrics, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fiber unidirectional (UHMWPE UD) composites have higher ballistic limited velocity at the same areal density, making UHMWPE UD composites better candidate materials for the design of body armor against ballistic and stab impact.

Stab and cut resistance of knitted structures: a comparative study

open access: yesTextile Research Journal, 2010
A new double-face knitted structure has been developed which is composed of tuck stitches and has the same back and front faces. The newly derived structure, manufactured from p-aramid fibers with and without inlay yarns, has been compared with jersey and plush structures of these same fibers in terms of cut and stab performances.

The stab resistance of fabrics impregnated with shear thickening fluids including various particle size of additives

open access: yesComposites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2017
WOS: 000394193300006Shear thickening fluid (STF) treated high performance fabrics have attracted much attention in the applications of body protection. In order to improve the contribution of STF treatments, we designed multiphase STFs and investigated ...

Stab and Cut Resistance

2016
Nowadays attacks or threats with knives are being reported regularly. Special occupational groups, such as taxi or bus drivers and teachers, must be aware of the danger to experience such an assault themselves. Even children and young adults often use knives as weapons. Additionally, knives are also dangerous when being used as tools.
