Investigation of the stab resistance mechanism and performance of uncoated and SiO2 coated high-performance aramid fabrics

open access: yes, 2021
Surface coatings on the fabrics can enhance protective properties of flexible body armors. It is known that the application of coating increases inter yarn friction, however, detailed mechanism of knife-yarn interaction in coated and uncoated fabrics is ...

Innovativeness in tradition: a study on the physical performance of leather scale armors during the Joseon Dynasty

open access: yesFashion and Textiles, 2023
During the Joseon Dynasty, light and convenient leather armors were developed to replace metal armors, which were heavy and difficult to manufacture. Leather armors allowed easy movement of the troops and, because arrows were the primary weapons at the ...

Increasing productivity trailed scraper [PDF]

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник Брянского государственного университета, 2016
Considered the issue of improving the operational characteristics of trailing scraper through the use of a combined knife system, which combines in one machine the widespread speed stab system and shovels cutting on.

Shear thickening fluids and their applications

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
Shear thickening fluids (STFs) are a new type of nanosuspension, which are formed by dispersing micro and nanoparticles in a dispersant. STFs are easily deformed under the action of a low shear rate.

Effect of structure on dynamical stab-resistance behaviors of laminates composite

open access: yesThermal Science, 2022
The dynamic stab-resistance behaviors of laminate composites composed of TA15, TA1 titanium with various thicknesses of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, and polyester fabrics are characterized under dynamic stab testing conditions and analyzed by a new method using the average velocity of tension-compaction-plastic deformation ...

Stab resistant body armour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
There is now a widely accepted need for stab resistant body armour for the police in the UK. However, very little research has been done on knife resistant systems and the penetration mechanics of sharp projectiles are poorly understood.

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Blade Sharpness and its Effect on the Testing of Body Armours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Factors such as edge sharpness and tip sharpness have been identified by Horsfall,1 as keyvariables in the testing of stab and slash resistant armours.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...
