Stability and convergence in adaptive systems

Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004
Sufficient conditions for adaptive control to ensure stability and convergence to a controller that is robustly stabilizing and performing are developed, provided that such a controller exists in the candidate controller pool. The results can be used to interpret any cost-minimizing adaptive scheme.

Sets of convergence and stability regions

BIT, 1987
Methods of time iterations (dynamic iterations) for an initial value problem for large linear systems \(\dot x+Ax=f\) (A is an n by n complex matrix) are investigated. A convergence criterium for the iteration schemes in terms of the splitting of the matrix A and the stability properties of the time discretization method is presented.

Feasibility, Stability, Convergence and Markov Chains

2015
This chapter considers the closed-loop properties of stochastic MPC strategies based on the predicted costs and probabilistic constraints formulated in Chap. 6. To make the analysis of closed-loop stability and performance possible, it must first be ensured that the MPC law is well-defined at all times and the most natural way to approach this is to ...

Structural Stability and Convergence in Piezoelectricity

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2012
The capability of piezoelectric materials to directly convert from electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice versa is mathematically described by the piezoelectric tensor, which couples the hyperbolic partial differential equations of elastic deformation and the charge equation of electrostatics (an elliptic partial differential equation ...

Convergence and Stability of Nonlinear Finite Element Equations

AIAA Journal, 1975
For k= 1, i.e., for the case of isotropic core, the critical loads TV* and N*L, given by Eqs. (16) and (17) reduce to those obtained by Fulton. In ord"er to show the effect of orthotropic core upon the critical loads, the following numerical values for shell property and dimensions are used: El =E2 =E, tj = t2 = t=0.05 in., ju = 0.3, E/Gxz = 2xW, 0 ...

Stability and convergence in case marking

2014
In Modern Low German, there are signs for a newly emerging dative case under Standard German influence. The present paper analyzes this case of potential convergence, concentrating on definite articles of neuter gender. Methodologically, a new corpus of spontaneous speech is used, alongside the established Zwirner corpus from the middle of the last

What controls convergence? What relates convergence and stability?

Abstract Chapter 7 discussed different numerical integration schemes (Forward, Backward, and Central Euler) applied to the nuclear decay equation. This chapter introduces the framework to analyze their performance, covers numerical stability, consistency and convergence, and considers the Lax–Richtmyer theorem.

Convergence and stability of dynamic processes

1992
From the author's conclusions: ``Some classical convergence and stability results are extended in a general framework, which contains most discrete and continuous dynamic processes. The analysis is based on generalized Lyapunov functions, which are not assumed to be continuous, but they are assumed to be monotonic on the entire solution space.
