Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Mathematical Modeling of Population Dynamics of Pollinators: A Survey

open access: yesBiology
In this paper, we develop a systematic review of the existing literature on the mathematical modeling of several aspects of pollinators. We selected the MathSciNet and Wos databases and performed a search for the words “pollinator” and “mathematical ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

CYBER-PHYSICAL MODEL OF THE IMMUNOSENSOR SYSTEM AT THE HEXAGONAL LATTICE WITH THE USE OF DIFFERENCE EQUATIONS OF THE POPULATION DYNAMICS

open access: yesСучасний стан наукових досліджень та технологій в промисловості, 2019
The subject matter of the study is a model of cyber-physical immunosensory systems. The goal of the work is to create and to study the stability of the cyber-physical model of the immunosensory system at the hexagonal lattice using difference equations ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Finite Difference Method for Solving Partial Integro-Differential Equations

open access: yesپژوهش‌های ریاضی, 2020
Introduction In this paper, we have introduced a new method for solving a class of the partial integro-differential equation with the singular kernel by using the finite difference method.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Vibration control of a rotating exponentially axially functionally graded flexible beam [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences
Elastic manipulators are commonly used in industrial applications. Therefore, understanding their dynamics is one of the most important engineering challenges. Vibration is a crucial phenomenon due to the elastic nature of the manipulators.
