Hysteresis can be defined from a dynamical systems perspective with respect to equilibrium points. Consequently, hysteresis naturally lends itself as a topic to illustrate and extend concepts in a dynamical systems course. A number of examples exhibiting hysteresis, most motivated by applications, are presented.

Photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes by PEG and PVP capped Cu, Ni and Ag nanoparticles in the presence of NaBH4 in aqueous medium [PDF]
Photocatalysis mediated by metal nanoparticles is emerging as an effective method for removal of hazardous dye pollutants in natural aquatic bodies. Nanoparticles of Cu, Ni and Ag were synthesized by chemical method using PEG and PVP polymers as capping ...

Improvement of Spread-Ability of Peanut Butter Stabilized by Monoglyceride
In this work, the ''sijibao'' peanut butter stabilized by the hydrogenated vegetable oil, a peanut butter with spread-ability widely recognized by consumers, was used as the reference. Then sensory evaluation about spread-ability, rheological properties,

Hyperbranched Macromolecules: From Synthesis to Applications
Hyperbranched macromolecules (HMs, also called hyperbranched polymers) are highly branched three-dimensional (3D) structures in which all bonds converge to a focal point or core, and which have a multiplicity of reactive chain-ends.

Permutation groups with restricted stabilizers [PDF]
Fix a positive integer d and let Γd be the class of finite groups without sections isomorphic to the alternating group Ad. The groups in Γd were studied by Babai, Cameron and Pálfy in the 1980s and they determined bounds on the order of a primitive ...

On the equivalence of a-stability and g-stability [PDF]
An algebraic result is obtained which enables the authors to establish the equivalence of \(A\)-stability and \(G\)-stability for one-leg methods. They obtain an alternative proof of the second Dahlquist barrier. In the following two of their results are stated: Theorem: If the polynomials \(\rho\) and \(\sigma\) are relatively prime, then \(A ...

Positive Sofic Entropy Implies Finite Stabilizer
We prove that, for a measure preserving action of a sofic group with positive sofic entropy, the stabilizer is finite on a set of positive measures. This extends the results of Weiss and Seward for amenable groups and free groups, respectively.
