Cysteine Thioaldehydes: Photolytic Generation, Reactivity, and Biological Implications
Photolysis of cysteine phenacylsulfides bearing non‐conjugating electron‐withdrawing substituents leads to high conversions into cysteine thioaldehydes through a Norrish type‐II pathway. This methodology enabled the study of the aqueous reactivity of these important biosynthetic intermediates, which, depending on peptide sequence, pH and buffer ...

An electron bridge strategy is developed to regulate charge polarization in Pd1 and Ni1 dual single‐atom sites, promoting CO2 reduction, nitrate reduction, and C–N coupling simultaneously. The resulting catalyst achieves efficient urea electrosynthesis with high activity and record durability over 1700 h.

Heavy‐Atom Tunneling at Room Temperature Revealed by Instanton Theory
Usually, tunneling does not play a significant role in chemical reactions except at low temperature, especially when heavy atoms are involved. However, using nonadiabatic instanton theory we find that heavy‐atom tunneling dominates the reaction mechanism for spin‐forbidden processes in the synthesis of strained organic molecules even at room ...

Isolated Sn sites on Cu(111) induce a highly asymmetric charge distribution, which promotes water dissociation, accelerates key intermediate hydrogenation, and suppresses competing hydrogen evolution. As a result, SnCu111 delivers NH3 Faradaic efficiencies above 90% over an 800 mV potential window and enables stable direct solar power‐driven NH3 ...
