Passivity-Based PI Control Method of MMC with Asymmetric Bridge Arms
Considering asymmetric bridge arms of modular multilevel converter (MMC), a passivity-based PI control method based on the bilinear model is proposed to address the dq decoupling transformation errors caused by the fundamental frequency component ...

Magnetic vortex-antivortex crystals generated by spin-polarized current
We study vortex pattern formation in thin ferromagnetic films under the action of strong spin-polarized currents. Considering the currents which are polarized along the normal of the film plane, we determine the critical current above which the film goes

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Magnetosphere dynamics during the 14 November 2012 storm inferred from TWINS, AMPERE, Van Allen Probes, and BATS-R-US–CRCM [PDF]
During the 14 November 2012 geomagnetic storm, the Van Allen Probes spacecraft observed a number of sharp decreases (dropouts) in particle fluxes for ions and electrons of different energies.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Ratiometric temperature stable current reference
Current-mode integraed circuit design leads to the use of a current reference achieving good temperature compensation. A novel circuit is described, which has good performance based on a ratiometric expression that is easily reproduced. As a bonus, the circuit acts as a PTAT (proportional to absolute temperature) reference without any structural change.

A wide range temperature stable integrated current reference [PDF]
A current reference integrated circuit was built in a 2 micron CMOS process base on SIMOX technology, without the need of external trimming, to provide 19.5/spl mu/A. the overall error was less than +/-1% ( 10V), at a power consumption of less than 1.5 mW. From -15 to 90/spl deg/C the TC was < 12 ppm/K, derived by higher order temperature compensation.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
