Population dynamic of the flies attached to stick traps in horse stables in Shalalat, Mosul [PDF]

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2009
Four species of flies were recorded in sticky traps in Shalalat stable horse club/ Mosul, IRAQ, as follows: Musca domestica, Sarcophaga bullata and Stomoxys calcitrans،Fannia scalaris belonged to Family: Muscidae, order: Diptera. Results reveled that the

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Aerobic bacterial microbiota in stomoxys calcitrans: preliminary studies in Brazil Microbiota bacteriana aeróbica em Stomoxys calcitrans: estudos preliminares no Brasil

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Parasitologia Veterinária, 2007
The stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans, has a great importance in medical and veterinary health due to its feeding and reproductive habits, which can disseminate some pathogenic agents among hosts even at long distances.

Visual and olfactory enhancement of stable fly trapping

open access: yesPest Management Science, 2016
AbstractBACKGROUNDStable flies are considered to be one of the major blood‐feeding pests in the US livestock industry, causing losses running into billions of dollars annually. Adult stable flies are highly attracted to Alsynite traps; however, Alsynite is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and is expensive.RESULTSHere, we report on the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

First Report of Mermithidae (Enoplea: Mermithida) Parasitizing Adult Stable Flies in Japan

open access: yesJournal of Nematology
Mermithidae is a family of nematodes that parasitize a wide range of invertebrates worldwide. Herein, we report nematodes that were unexpectedly found in three of 486 adult stable flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) captured from three farms (F1, F2, and F3) in ...

Effects of Different Amendment Materials on Reclaimed Soil Structure and Organic Matter Content of Hollow Village in Loess Region

open access: yesShuitu baochi tongbao, 2022
[Objective] The poor structure and low fertility of reclaimed soil of abandoned homesteads in hollow villages in the loess area were addressed in order to provide a theoretical basis for improving the quality of reclaimed soils.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.
