Noncentral moderate deviations for time-changed Lévy processes with inverse of stable subordinators

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications
This paper presents some extensions of recent noncentral moderate deviation results. In the first part, the results in [Statist. Probab. Lett. 185, Paper No. 109424, 8 pp.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

The Influence of Competing Hydroclimate Processes on Stable Isotope Ratios in Tropical Rainfall

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
In tropical paleoclimate studies, paleo‐precipitation is often reconstructed from proxies via the “amount effect,” that is, the empirical inverse relationship between local precipitation amount (P) and the oxygen isotopic composition of precipitation ...

Isotopic signatures (δ 13C and δ15N) of muscle, carapace and claw in Phrynops geoffroanus (Testudines: Chelidae)

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2011
The isotopic composition ( δ13C and δ 15N) of muscle, carapace and claw was determined from six wild individuals of Phrynops geoffroanus (Schweigger, 1812) in order to verify the variation between those tissues. The mean values of δ13C e &#

Maxima of stable processes, the range of a stable subordinator and the gap between Fréchet random variables and stable random variables

open access: yes, 2017
Extremal limit theorems for certain long memort stationary stable processes lead unexpectedly to a nonlinear time change in the usual extremal process.

A Finite-Sample Deviation Bound for Stable Autoregressive Processes

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we study non-asymptotic deviation bounds of the least squares estimator in Gaussian AR(n) processes. By relying on martingale concentration inequalities and a tail-bound for χ2 distributed variables, we provide a concentration bound for ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The Pricing of Short-Lived Options When Price Uncertainty Is Log-Symmetric Stable [PDF]

open access: yes
The well-known option pricing formula of Black and Scholes depends upon the assumption that price fluctuations are log-normal. However, this formula greatly underestimates the value of options with a low probability of being exercised if, as appears to ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Donsker-Type Construction for the Self-Stabilizing and Self-Scaling Process

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Using a Donsker-type construction, we prove the existence of a new class of processes, which we call the self-stabilizing processes. These processes have a particular property: the “local intensities of jumps” vary with the values. Moreover, we also show
