Competitiveversuscooperative performances of a Stackelberg game between two suppliers

RAIRO - Operations Research, 2016
We investigate the competitive and cooperative performances of a supply chain with two capacitated suppliers solicited by a customer who offers a new product procurement suggestion. Suppliers have the option to accept or reject the new product offer according to its profitability. In addition, suppliers have to decide on their base stock levels.

Cournot Vs Stackelberg Equilibria with a Public Enterprise and International Competition

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2003
This paper examines the validity of alternative assumptions about public enterprise strategies in the presence of both domestic and international competition. It extends the quantity-setting game to a preplay stage and endogenizes the firms' order of moves to show that i) Cournot competition is not the subgame perfect Nash equilibrium of the extended ...

Public Input Competition, Stackelberg Equilibrium and Optimality [PDF]

open access: possible, 2011
In this paper we examine the Stackelberg equilibrium in a public input competition model. We demonstrate that the issue of over-provision of public inputs raised in the standard fiscal competition literature may be less strong than predicted, provided that competing jurisdictions are more likely to behave in a Stackelberg fashion than in a non ...

A stackelberg game theoretic approach to competitive product portfolio management

12th International Symposium on Operations Research and its Applications in Engineering, Technology and Management (ISORA 2015), 2015
We are concerned with a product portfolio management problem in which a firm wants to enter a competitive market by offering new products where there are existing products belonging to a competitor. The objective of the new entrant firm is to find out an optimal product portfolio that maximizes its expected shared surplus. The market incumbent firm can

Demand response aggregator stackelberg competition for selling stored energy

2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2017
This work is concerned with the application of game-theoretic principles in a power market consisting of demand response aggregators which compete to sell energy stored in batteries to other aggregators. The amount and price of power transacted is controlled by the utility (as leader), and the sellers do not share information about their bidding ...

The Feasibility of Multilateral Free Trade and Mode of Competition: Stackelberg Versus Cournot Competitions

2016
This chapter investigates how mode of competition affects the feasibility of multilateral free trade (MFT) through formation of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) by comparing Stackelberg competition with Cournot competition in a three-country model with asymmetric markets.

The effect of Stackelberg cost reductions on spatial competition with heterogeneous firms [PDF]

open access: possible, 2012
This article extends the theory of spatial competition by allowing firms to endogenously select their operating costs within a Hotelling (1929) framework. A three-stage duopoly model is examined in which the firms compete in cost reduction, locations and finally prices.

Cournot oligopolistic competition in spatially separated markets: The Stackelberg equilibrium

2018
Consider a two-stage non-cooperative Cournot game with location choice involving r firms. There are n spatially separated markets located at the vertices of a network. Each firm, first selects the location of a facility and then selects the quantities to supply to the markets in order to maximize its profit. Non-zero conjectural variation at the second
