A Model of Secular Stagnation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We propose an overlapping generations New Keynesian model in which a permanent (or very persistent) slump is possible without any self- correcting force to full employment. The trigger for the slump is a deleveraging shock, which creates an oversupply of savings. Other forces that work in the same direction and can both create or exacerbate the problem

The effect of exercise interventions on reducing the risk of depressive and cognitive disorders in post-stroke—a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundStroke patients often experience sequelae such as depressive symptoms, cognitive impairment, and abnormal physical function. Exercise intervention may be an effective and safe non-drug treatment to address these health issues.ObjectiveThe aim ...

Delayed Release of Intracellular Microcystin Following Partial Oxidation of Cultured and Naturally Occurring Cyanobacteria

open access: yesToxins, 2020
Oxidation processes can provide an effective barrier to eliminate cyanotoxins by damaging cyanobacteria cell membranes, releasing intracellular cyanotoxins, and subsequently oxidizing these toxins (now in extracellular form) based on published reaction ...

Increase of data and development of science [PDF]

open access: yesروش شناسی علوم انسانی, 2019
Despite what it may seem, some indicators show that during the last quarter of twentieth-century science has been in the state of stagnation and there is less news about big discoveries.

Stress singularities and the formation of birefringent strands in stagnation flows of dilute polymer solutions

open access: yes, 2009
We consider stagnation point flow away from a wall for creeping flow of dilute polymer solutions. For a simplified flow geometry, we explicitly show that a narrow region of strong polymer extension (a birefringent strand) forms downstream of the ...

Oblique Stagnation Point Flow of Nanofluids over Stretching/Shrinking Sheet with Cattaneo-Christov Heat Flux Model: Existence of Dual Solution

open access: yesSymmetry, 2019
In the present work we consider a numerical solution for laminar, incompressible, and steady oblique stagnation point flow of Cu − water nanofluid over a stretching/shrinking sheet with mass suction S .

Stagnation and Scientific Incentives

open access: yes, 2020
New ideas no longer fuel economic growth the way they once did. A popular explanation for stagnation is that good ideas are harder to find, rendering slowdown inevitable.

Computational Fluid Dynamics of Blood Flow in an Extracorporeal Blood Circuit for the Analysis of Thrombogenic Hemodynamic Factors

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2011
Blood flow in a filter for an extracorporeal blood circuit was analyzed numerically to assess fluid mechanical quantities related to thrombogenesis. Results showed stagnant flow regions, in particular at the downstream side of the ceiling of a filter.
