Validating Explainer Methods: A Functionally Grounded Approach for Numerical Forecasting

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forecasting systems have a long tradition in providing outputs accompanied by explanations. While the vast majority of such explanations relies on inherently interpretable linear statistical models, research has put forth eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods to improve the comprehensibility of nonlinear machine learning models. As

Integrating Traditional Medicine to Improve the Care of Persistent Physical Symptom

open access: yesHealth Care Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Persistent physical symptom (PPS) is a common condition in sub‐healthy population and patients with chronic disease, and significantly influences the quality of life. Many PPS cannot be explained by any known disease, and thereby are attributed to socio‐psychological reasons and treated by psychological interventions, such as cognitive ...

Exploring the Effects of Reduced Gravitational Field Impacts on Convective Heat Transfer: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review explores the impact of gravitational instability on convective heat transfer, integrating existing research results and theoretical models. Gravitational instability is vital in promoting or hindering convective actions in different systems, such as atmospheric events, ocean currents, and industrial processes.

Increased incidence, survival, and registration quality of primary hepato‐pancreato‐biliary cancers in the Netherlands Cancer Registry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Primary hepato‐pancreato‐biliary cancers have poor prognosis and their reporting often scores low on standard data quality indicators in population‐based cancer registries. This comprehensive evaluation of cases in the Netherlands Cancer Registry shows that both the incidence and survival rates of most primary hepato‐pancreato‐biliary ...

Evaluating Innovation Output of Companies Backed by Corporate, Independent and Syndicated Venture Capital

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines how Corporate Venture Capital (CVC), Independent Venture Capital (IVC) and Venture Capital Syndicate (VCS) promote innovation among startups. Drawing on a dataset of 4406 venture‐backed deals in North America, spanning 1998–2019, it explores how the configurations of investors and their contextual factors influence ...

MIXED CONVECTION AT A STAGNATION POINT

The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, 1995
Summary: We are concerned with the mixed convective flow at a two-dimensional stagnation point on a heated horizontal boundary. The forced flow may be a stagnation-point flow of either forward or rear type, and the free convective element is due to a pressure gradient that is induced by temperature variations along the boundary.
