Effect of gas blowing on the head of thermal ablation vehicle

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics, 2022
The reentry vehicle will encounter thermal ablation, especially at the stagnation point regime. A theoretical work has been done to analyze the thermal effect of gas blowing due to thermal ablation of surface material on the head of a general hypersonic ...

Reconfigurable Microenvironments Uncover Mechano‐Sensing Timescales and Direct Cell Polarity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A synthetic DNA‐crosslinked cell culture matrix enables control over the mechanical microenvironment surrounding cells. Independent tuning of stiffness and stress relaxation uncovers distinct timescales of mechano‐sensing that regulate cell behavior.

MHD nonaligned stagnation point flow of second grade fluid towards a porous rotating disk

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2019
This paper provides analytical solution of the non-aligned stagnation point flow of second grade fluid over a porous rotating disk in the presence of a magnetic field and suction/injection at the disk surface.

Ion and Solvent Dynamics in Charged 2D Clay Nanoslits with Unprecedented Ångström‐Precise Slit Height Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The slit height of fluorohectorite 2D‐nanochannels is tuned with Å‐precision (2.4–250 Å). Slit‐height‐dependent ion and water mobilities are quantified by applying EIS, PFG‐NMR, and SFG‐NMR with MD simulations guiding interpretation. Diffuse properties are investigated with CP‐AFM, MD, and PB.

MHD Stagnation Flow of a Newtonian Fluid towards a Uniformly Heated and Moving Vertical Plate

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
Stagnation flow of an electrically conducting incompressible viscous fluid towards a moving vertical plate in the presence of a constant magnetic field is investigated. By using the appropriate transformations for the velocity components and temperature,

Theoretical Analysis of Groundwater Flow Patterns Near Stagnation Points

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2019
The importance of stagnation points for characterizing groundwater flow patterns has long been recognized. However, the possible streamline configurations near stagnation points under the constraints of Darcy's law have not been thoroughly investigated ...

Decoupling Transport of Salt Ions and Water in Hierarchically Structured Hydrogel for High Salinity Desalination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured hydrogel evaporator enables controlled decoupling of salt‐ion and water transport pathways for efficient solar desalination in hypersaline environments. Engineered radial and vertical channels direct salt away from the evaporative interface, enhancing water evaporation and ambient energy harvesting via a cold‐surface effect.

Deep Learning Analysis of Solid‐Electrolyte Interphase Microstructures in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A transformer‐based deep learning model is developed for segmenting and analyzing high‐resolution TEM images of the solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) in lithium‐ion batteries. The model is trained on DFT‐based simulated images and predicts SEI grain and grain boundaries, revealing key microstructural features that govern ion transport and degradation.

Size Specific Trapping at a Convergent Stagnation Point [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2013
DNA has been observed to be trapped at a convergent stagnation point created by opposite rotating vortices in simulations based on the lattice-Boltzmann method using a bead-spring model for the DNA. Previous work has successfully separated polymers whose length differs by a factor of 2.
