Polyhydroxybutyrates are key sustainable polyesters, but controlling the stereoregularity is crucial for exhibiting the most promising thermal and mechanical properties. Highly active rare‐earth metal salan/salalen complexes yield isotactic (Pm up to 0.96 at 0 °C) or syndioenriched (Pr up to 0.91) PHB, depending on the steric demand of the ligand and ...

Dust-wind interactions can intensify aerosol pollution over eastern China
Anthropogenic aerosol and calm conditions give rise to winter haze episodes in eastern China. Yanget al. show that these weak winds also decrease natural dust emissions, reducing the land–ocean temperature difference and associated winds, enhancing air ...

Blowup in Stagnation-point Form Solutions of the Inviscid 2d Boussinesq Equations [PDF]
The 2d Boussinesq equations model large scale atmospheric and oceanic flows. Whether its solutions develop a singularity in finite-time remains a classical open problem in mathematical fluid dynamics. In this work, blowup from smooth nontrivial initial velocities in stagnation-point form solutions of this system is established.

Turbulence and surface heat transfer near the stagnation point of a circular cylinder in turbulent flow [PDF]
A turbulent boundary layer flow analysis of the momentum and thermal flow fields near the forward stagnation point due to a circular cylinder in turbulent cross flow is presented.

ABSTRACT Long‐term stable operation of bioelectrochemical systems (BES) presupposes the avoidance of mass transfer limitations of the electroactive biofilm. Excessive pH‐gradients from bulk to electrode interface or substrate limitations of the electroactive biofilm are known to diminish the electrical performance of BES.

Antibacterial hydrogel: The sniper of chronic wounds
The treatment of chronic wounds has always been an important challenge in the medical field. We focus on hydrogels not only because they provide a moist healing environment but also because compared with traditional dressings, they can effectively prevent and treat infections, reduce wound pain and scar formation.
