Long‐Lasting Hydrophilicity Induced by Ultraviolet Light on Surface Modified Hydrophobic Polylactic Acid

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
In light of increasing applications of compostable materials, surface treatment on PLA to increase roughness and hydrophobicity has been investigated. However, modifying wettability might hinder degradation. UVC exposure has significant effects on the wettability of textured PLA substrates, allowing a complete wettability switch due to chain scission ...

Potato peel valorization through ethanolamine reactive organosolv treatment

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Approximately 30% of the global potato supply is processed, generating substantial amounts of potato peel (PP) as a byproduct. Potato peel is a suberoligneous biomass, commonly found in the barks and peels of tuberous roots and tubers, and remains underutilized despite being a valuable source of cutin and suberin.

Thermal Structure of Turbulent Stagnating Opposed Jets with Different Temperature.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1997
Fluctuating temperature has been measured using a laser Rayleigh scattering technique along a centerline of turbulent stagnating opposed jets (cold jet velocity : 2m/s) with different temperatures up to about 400°C. The temperature signals show that the temperature fluctuation is characterized by spike type fluctuations with a sharp increase or ...

Antibacterial hydrogel: The sniper of chronic wounds

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The treatment of chronic wounds has always been an important challenge in the medical field. We focus on hydrogels not only because they provide a moist healing environment but also because compared with traditional dressings, they can effectively prevent and treat infections, reduce wound pain and scar formation.

Stretched Flow of Casson Fluid with Variable Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
This paper looks at the stagnation point flow of Casson fluid towards a stretching surface. In addition, heat transfer analysis is discussed. The thermal conductivity varies linearly with temperature. Series solutions are first presented and then studied

Blowup in Stagnation-point Form Solutions of the Inviscid 2d Boussinesq Equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The 2d Boussinesq equations model large scale atmospheric and oceanic flows. Whether its solutions develop a singularity in finite-time remains a classical open problem in mathematical fluid dynamics. In this work, blowup from smooth nontrivial initial velocities in stagnation-point form solutions of this system is established.
