Tribological Properties of Titanium Surface Alloyed 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yes, 2010
Titanium surface alloyed layer was fabricated on 316L stainless steel substrate at 1000°C by means of the plasma surface alloying technique. The content of element titanium in the surface alloyed layer shows gradually tapering from surface to the inside ...

Tailoring Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Post‐Processing Parameters for JIS SKD61 Tool Steels: Surface Roughness, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

Investigation of Martensite Transformation in 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yesMaterials Today: Proceedings, 2015
Abstract A large number of parameters affect martensite formation in steel, such as composition, applied stress, plastic strain and temperature. Low cycle fatigue tests on 316L austenitic stainless steel have been carried outwith different strain amplitudesat room temperature and cryogenic temperatures.

Creep Performance of Stainless Steel 316 Brackets: Insights From Conventional and Advanced Modeling Approaches

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Creep behavior of SS 316 brackets is examined through experiments, conventional creep laws, and advanced constitutive modeling. Long‐term deformation, stress redistribution, and life prediction are compared under service‐relevant loads. The study highlights the limits of classical models and demonstrates improved accuracy using advanced approaches for ...

Microstructure Characterization of Bending Effects in 304L Stainless Steel Cladded with Low‐Alloy Steel Weld

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Prebending of 304L/Q345R cladded plates significantly alters the subsequent weld thermal cycle and modifies the local interfacial microstructure. Combined electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and microscopy analysis demonstrates that deformation twinning, martensitic transformation, and defect initiation are concentrated at the trimaterial junction,
