The transition process from a diffuser rotating stall to a stage stall in a centrifugal compressor with a vaned diffuser was investigated by experimental and numerical analyses. From the velocity measurements, it was found that the rotating stall existed

Wind-Tunnel Investigation of an Advanced General Aviation Canard Configuration [PDF]
Wind-tunnel tests of a model of an advanced canard configuration designed for general aviation were conducted in the Langley 30- by 60-Foot Tunnel. The objective of the tests was to determine the aerodynamic stability and control characteristics of the ...

The RNA G‐quadruplexes formed at the 5'‐end of the RNA component of human telomerase possess extreme slow unfolding rate, rendering them resistant to nuclease degradation. The helicase DHX36 overcame this kinetic barrier and significantly reduced the folded fraction.

Evaluation of an envelope-limiting device using simulation and flight test of a remotely piloted research vehicle [PDF]
The operating characteristics of a nonlinear envelope-limiting device were investigated at extreme flight conditions by using a real time digital aircraft spin simulation and flight tests of a scale model remotely piloted research vehicle.

Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

Effect of grooved casing treatment on the flow range capability of a single-stage axial-flow compressor [PDF]
Comparisons of the results of testing a single-stage axial-flow compressor with a solid-wall casing and with grooved casings are presented. The depth, location, and number of circumferential grooves in the casing over the casing over the rotor tip were ...

Scalable Electrochemical Concrete Fabrication and Closed‐Loop Recycling
The electrochemical‐driven recycling strategy establishes a reversible concrete material flow by extracting Ca, Si, Al, and Fe from concrete waste and regenerating functional feedstocks. These reversed products are reassembled into new concrete, which re‐enters service and ultimately returns to waste, enabling a closed‐loop, waste‐origin, and low ...

The development of CFD methods for rotor applications [PDF]
The optimum design of the advancing helicopter rotor for high-speed forward flight always involves a tradeoff between transonic and stall limitations. However, the preoccupation of the rotor industry was primarily concerned with stall until well into the

A theoretical and experimental appraisal of airworthiness evaluation techniques for small light aeroplanes [PDF]
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by the University of Southampton.A thorough evaluation of the airworthiness of a manned aircraft is vitally important, regardless of the size or function of the aircraft ...

It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.
