Spike type of stall inception in the tandem rotor
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2022There are two known mechanisms of inception of rotating stall in the compressor, modal wave inception and spike inception. However, the stall inception mechanisms for a tandem-rotor have not been explored so far in detail. The paper explores the unsteady behaviour of the tandem rotor.

Stall inception in a transonic axial fan
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part A: Journal of Power and Energy, 2008The current paper reports a numerical investigation of stall inception in a transonic compressor rotor, NASA Rotor-67, by using the whole flow passages in the computations. Surface roughness is added to one of the blades in order to trigger rotating stall.

Flow Models in Boundary-Layer Stall Inception
Journal of Basic Engineering, 1961Physical evidence on stall inception from visual studies, mean-velocity-profile correlations, shear measurements, and fluctuations in separating boundary layers in the neighborhood of stall are discussed. Direct visual studies suggest that stall inception in the laminar boundary layer follows the classical model, but does not necessarily do so in the ...

Abstract The aerodynamic and aeroelastic behavior of an engine-like transonic compressor stage is investigated in this paper. Simulations were carried out for the transonic compressor at the Technical University of Darmstadt using the AU3D flow solver.

Stall Inception in Axial Compressors
Volume 1: Turbomachinery, 1989Detailed measurements have been made of the transient stalling process in an axial compressor stage. The stage is of high hub-casing ratio and stall is initiated in the rotor. If the rotor tip clearance is small stall inception occurs at the hub, but at clearances typical for a multistage compressor the inception is at the tip.
