Funerals During the Second Iron age: A Newly Discovered Sepulchral Ensemble Reveals Practices in Western Switzerland (Pré-Du-Stand, Geneva)

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceDuring preventive archaeological excavations at the site of Pré-du-Stand in Geneva (Switzerland) in 2015 and 2016, four cremations dating to the middle La Tène period (La Tène C2/200-150 BC) were found. This discovery sheds light on

A stand age based sediment transport model

open access: yes, 2009
Our sediment transport model is developed using the hydrologic cycle as representative of the routing of water through a watershed. The elements of the hydrologic cycle described are rainfall, interception of rainfall, evaporation, infiltration, surface ...

Investigating LiDAR Metrics for Old-Growth Beech- and Spruce-Dominated Forest Identification in Central Europe

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Old-growth forests are essential for maintaining biodiversity, as they are formed by the complexity of diverse forest structures, such as broad variations in tree height and diameter (DBH) and conditions of living and dead trees, leading to various ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Temporal dynamics of soil microbial symbioses in the root zone of wolfberry: deciphering the effects of biotic and abiotic factors on bacterial and fungal ecological networks

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Long-term monoculture of Lycium barbarum significantly affects its productivity and soil health. Soil microbiota, which mediate the sustainable development of soil ecosystems, are influenced by the age of wolfberry plants.

Expansion dynamics of deciduous rubber plantations in Xishuangbanna, China during 2000–2010

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing, 2018
Monoculture rubber plantations have been replacing tropical rain forests substantially in Southern China and Southeast Asia over the past several decades, which have affected human wellbeing and ecosystem services.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
