Standard penetration test State-of-the-art report

2021
Important developments have taken place since ESOPT 1974 both with respect to the test method as well as the interpretation of the results. The considerable amount of research into the method being undertaken in the USA and Japan is reviewed against the new European Standard for the test. Japan has raised an objection to the specified rod size. Driving

Laboratory Standard Penetration Tests on Fine Sands

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977
The Standard Penetration Test (STP) is critically examined with respect to its ability to estimate relative density in situ. Twenty-six test specimens, 4-ft in diameter by 6-ft high, were constructed using Reid Bedford Model sand and Ottawa sand. Using field drilling equipment, the SPT was performed at three overburden pressures on test specimens built

A Review of Standardization for Penetration Testing Reports and Documents

2019 6th International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS), 2019
Penetration testing or pen test is a simulated cyber-attack conducted to find the vulnerabilities and weaknesses in a computer system. The test is conducted by professionals hired by the organization that produces a report to the organization for further actions. However, the report produce varies according to the different tester.

Energy measurements and correlations of the standard penetration test (SPT) and the becker penetration test (BPT)

2009
The Standard penetration test (SPT) and the Becker penetration test (BPT) are two of the most widely used in-situ tests in North America. The SPT is most commonly used in sands and silty sands, while the BPT, being a large-scale penetration test, is more useful in gravelly soils.

Standard Penetration Test and Dynamic Cone Penetration Test Relationship for Coarse-Grained Soils

The Standard Penetration Test (SPT) is a commonly used and effective disturbed sampling in-situ method to obtain the strength characteristics of soils, providing significant results for geotechnical design. Several correlations between SPT blow counts (N value) and soil behavior have been established to define physical and mechanical properties ...

Drill Rod Influence on Standard Penetration Test

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977
The many factors that affect the standard penetration test variability have been listed and examined qualitatively by Fletcher and others. One factor listed is the rod linking the split spoon sampler to the surface. Intuitively, one would expect the rod stiffness and inertia to affect the SPT resistance.
