Risk factors for postoperative hypoxemia in patients with Stanford type A aortic dissection

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Background Postoperative hypoxemia is quite common in patients with Stanford type A aortic dissection (STAAD) and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. However, there is no method to predict this potentially life-threatening complication.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Anorectal Dysfunction in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Phenotypes and Functional Patterns

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to characterize specific physiologic defects in anorectal dysfunction in systemic sclerosis (SSc) using anorectal manometry (ARM), evaluate associations with gastrointestinal (GI) and extraintestinal clinical phenotypes, and explore potential serologic markers for risk stratification.

Atrial fibrillation, an epiphenomenon of acute Stanford type‐A aortic dissection with suspected intimo‐intimal intussusception

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2018
Key Clinical Message Supraventricular arrhythmias can sometimes be “only” epiphenomena appearing during acute hypoxia, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and thrombosis. Indeed, atrial fibrillation is not rare in acute aortic dissection as it is estimated in

Development and validation of a risk prediction model for postoperative pneumonia in adult patients undergoing Stanford type A acute aortic dissection surgery: a case control study

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2022
Background Pneumonia is a common complication after Stanford type A acute aortic dissection surgery (AADS) and contributes significantly to morbidity, mortality, and length of stay.

Association of Elevated Platelets and C‐Reactive Protein With Severe Disease and Poor Survival in Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Elevated C‐reactive protein (CRP) levels in systemic sclerosis (SSc) have been linked with severe disease and worse survival, but the role of platelet levels remains unclear. This study examined whether elevated platelet levels, CRP levels, or both are associated with disease severity, progression, and survival in SSc.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Microstructural Evolution and In Situ Formation of TiB and TiC in Ti─5Al─2.5Sn Alloy Processed by Powder Metallurgy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Accelerated in situ formation of TiB and TiC in Ti–5Al–2.5Sn–B4C is driven by transient liquid phase formation, which enhances particle reactions and microstructural evolution. This process increases hardness and establishes a coupled relationship between sintering temperature and reinforcement content, strongly influencing porosity in the resulting ...

The creation and validation of predictive models to assess the risk of unfavorable outcomes following hybrid total arch repair for Stanford type A aortic dissection

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2023
Background The objective of this study was to develop and validate a nomogram for the individualized prediction of adverse events in patients with Stanford type A aortic dissection (TAAD) undergoing hybrid total aortic arch repair.
