Stellar-Dynamics of Young Star Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
The stellar-dynamical evolution of bound star clusters during the first few Myr is dominated by binary-binary and binary-star interactions, the rapid sinking of the most massive stars to the centre of the clusters and mass loss from evolving stars. The consequences of these processes for the binary and stellar population in clusters, and for the star ...

An extended main-sequence turn-off in the Small Magellanic Cloud star cluster NGC 411 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Based on new observations with the Wide Field Camera 3 onboard the Hubble Space Telescope, we report the discovery of an extended main sequence turn-off (eMSTO) in the intermediate-age star cluster NGC411.

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Catalogue of variable stars in open cluster fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present the first catalogue of known variable stars in open cluster regions and with up to two times the given cluster radius. This gives basic information about the distribution of variable stars in cluster fields for the complete sky. Knowledge of the variable star contents in open clusters is a significant advantage in their study.

THE SNAPSHOT HUBBLE U-BAND CLUSTER SURVEY (SHUCS). I. SURVEY DESCRIPTION AND FIRST APPLICATION TO THE MIXED STAR CLUSTER POPULATION OF NGC 4041 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present the Snapshot Hubble U-band Cluster Survey (SHUCS), a project aimed at characterizing the star cluster populations of 10 nearby galaxies (d < 23 Mpc, half within ≈12 Mpc) through new F336W (U-band equivalent) imaging from Wide Field Camera 3 ...

Star Clusters in the Magellanic Clouds [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1984
The evolutionary history of the Magellanic Clouds has been very different from that of the Galaxy. As a result we presently observe major differences between both the stellar content and the cluster populations in the Galaxy and the Clouds.

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Evolution of Star Clusters within Galaxies Using Self-consistent Hybrid Hydro/N-body Simulations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We introduce a GPU-accelerated hybrid hydro/ N -body code ( Enzo-N ) designed to address the challenges of concurrently simulating star clusters and their parent galaxies.

Candidate super star cluster progenitor gas clouds possibly triggered by close passage to Sgr A [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Super star clusters are the end product of star formation under the most extreme conditions. As such, studying how their final stellar populations are assembled from their natal progenitor gas clouds can provide strong constraints on star formation ...

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.
