Detecting Threats in Star Graphs
IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 2009In this paper, we consider the problem of searching a network for intruders. We propose a strategy for capturing the intruder in the popular interconnection topology, the star network. According to the proposed strategy, a team of collaborative software agents are responsible for capturing a hostile intruder (e.g. a virus).

STAR DETECTION AND TRACKING USING CCDs
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983Abstract A star sensor, now under testing at Officine Galileo, making use of a CCD imaging array and a microprocessor based data acquisition and processing system is presented. Advantages resulting by this approach in terms of accuracy and ease of adaptation to different missions are discussed.

Star Detectability Analysis of Daytime Star Sensor
Journal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2005This paper discusses the daytime atmospheric conditions and the possibility of daytime star detection with the purpose of practical use of the star sensor for daylight navigation. In order to estimate the daytime atmospheric data, we use the standard atmospheric model (LOWTRAN 7), from which atmospheric transmittance and radiance from background sky ...

Comparison of Dim Star Detection Algorithms for Star Trackers
2023<p>In the following study, the dim star detection performance of a baseline detection algorithm with no image processing was compared to a one-dimensional dilation-based top hat algorithm and a two-dimensional white top hat algorithm which utilized two different structuring elements.

When sunlight is spread out into its different colors or wavelengths, it is cut by several dark gaps. They were first noticed by the English astronomer William Hyde Wollaston (1766–1828) in 1802 (Wollaston 1802), and then investigated in greater detail by the When sunlight is spread out into its different colors or wavelengths, it is cut by several ...

Detection of the very hot central star in NGC2440
Nature, 1986It has been argued1 that the extremely faint central stars of some planetary nebulae must be very hot, with most of their energy output in the ultraviolet. We now report the detection of the central star of the planetary nebula NGC2440 in a narrow-band continuum image using a CCD (charge-coupled device) camera at the prime focus of the Anglo-Australian

Detecting rising stars in dynamic collaborative networks
Journal of Informetrics, 2017Abstract In today's complex academic environment the process of performance evaluation of scholars is becoming increasingly difficult. Evaluation committees often need to search in several repositories in order to deliver their evaluation summary report for an individual. However, it is extremely difficult to infer performance indicators that pertain
