Thermal Effects of Ambipolar Diffusion during the Gravitational Collapse of a Radiative Cooling Filament

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this study, we consider the effects of ambipolar diffusion during the gravitational collapse of a radiative cooling filamentary molecular cloud. Two separate configurations of magnetic field, i.e., axial and toroidal, are considered in the presence of

The Properties of an Edge-On Low Surface Brightness Galaxies Sample

open access: yesUniverse
We analyzed the properties of a sample of edge-on low-surface brightness galaxies, which are referred to as Cao23 ELSBGs. Cao23 ELSBGs exhibit a wide range of luminosities (−22 < Mr < −13) with a mean scale length of 3.19 ± 1.48 kpc.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

The Persistence of Population III Star Formation

open access: yes, 2017
We present a semi-analytic model of star formation in the early universe, beginning with the first metal-free stars. By employing a completely feedback-limited star formation prescription, stars form at maximum efficiency until the self-consistently ...

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...

Playing with positive feedback: external pressure-triggering of a star-forming disc galaxy

open access: yes, 2015
Feedback in massive galaxies generally involves quenching of star formation, a favored candidate being outflows from a central supermassive black hole.

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

The spatial distribution of star and cluster formation in M51

open access: yes, 2008
Aims. We study the connection between spatially resolved star formation and young star clusters across the disc of M51. Methods. We combine star cluster data based on B, V, and I-band Hubble Space Telescope ACS imaging, together with new WFPC2 U-band ...
