Iterative algorithm for autonomous star identification
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2015An autonomous star identification algorithm is described in this study. This algorithm iteratively determines a catalog star, the distances of which to its neighbors are similar to those of a given sensor star and its neighboring stars, until a unique match is found.

IDENTIFICATION OF STARS BY LEARNERS
Survey Review, 1961AbstractIn the April 1960 issue of the Empire Survey Review (xv, 116, 277–281), Mr. Tait deals with the very real difficulty of identifying stars observed during the course of a position line programme, which is not a pre-computed programme. This difficulty is one that, moreover, is not confined only to learners.

An Novel Effective Simulation Method of Star Atlas for Star Identification
2012 Fifth International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization, 2012In order to further improve the attitude control accuracy of the spacecraft and analysis the star identification algorithm, an effective simulation method of star atlas is proposed. This approach utilizes the same field of view in different latitude to calculate the exact position of observed stars in the charge-coupled device (CCD) image plane.

Research on parallel processing for star acquirement and star identification
SPIE Proceedings, 2009Star acquirement and star identification are the key technologies of star sensor, and decide the performance of star sensor. Current research usually neglects the inner relationship between star acquirement and star identification, so the research on the parallel processing of both sides is not enough deep for star sensor development, and this ...

The Pyramid Star Identification Technique
Navigation, 2004: A new highly robust algorithm, called Pyramid, is presented to identify the stars observed by star trackers in the general lost-in-space case, where no a priori estimate of pointing is available. At the heart of the method is the k-vector approach for accessing the star catalog, which provides a searchless means to obtain all cataloged stars from the

A Star Identification Algorithm Based on Geometric Verification
Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Robotics, Intelligent Control and Artificial Intelligence, 2020A novel star identification algorithm based on geometric verification is presented in this paper to solve Lost-In-Space problem. Supposing the query star map matches with one in star pattern database and then verify its similarity is the main idea. The similarity is described by the proportion of correctly matched stars, which largely eliminates the ...

An artificial intelligence enhanced star identification algorithm
Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering, 2020An artificial intelligence enhanced star identification algorithm is proposed for star trackers in lost-in-space mode. A convolutional neural network model based on Vgg16 is used in the artificial intelligence algorithm to classify star images. The training dataset is constructed to achieve the networks’ optimal performance.

Optical Correlator for Star Identification and Tracking
2009Star tracker is one of the most important spacecraft attitude sensors which can achieve accuracies within several arc-seconds utilizing star identification and star tracking. The refresh rate and accuracy of star tracker are constrained as there are so many stars in the sky. A novel star identification and tracking method for star tracker using optical
