Further investigations on certain star selection principles
We consider certain star versions of the Menger, Hurewicz and Rothberger properties. Few important observations concerning these properties are presented, which have not been investigated in earlier works. A variety of investigations is performed using Alster covers and critical cardinalities $\mathfrak{d}$, $\mathfrak{b}$ and ${\sf cov}(\mathcal{M})$.

Some star and strongly star selection principles
Connections between star-Menger and strongly star-Menger are explored. For example with a specified topology, $2^{\omega_1}$ is a metacompact regular space that is not strongly star-Menger but, with $\mathfrak d>\omega_1$, is star-Menger. Rudin's $\clubsuit$ example of a hereditarily separable, first countable de Caux-type space is Dowker and strongly ...

Relationships between some selection principles and star selection principles
Motivated by the definition of classical star selection principles, Cruz-Castillo, Ram rez-P ramo and Tenorio defined some selection principles and posed several questions about relationships between these notions and some of the classical star selection principles. The main goal of this paper is to answer the questions posed by these authors.

Hurewicz and Hurewicz-type star selection principles for hit-and-miss topology
In this paper we continue the study of the characterization of selection principles in the hyperspaces CL(X), K(X), F(X) and CS(X), endowed with the hit-and-miss topology, by using ??(?)-networks and c?(?)-covers of a topological space X. Specifically, we prove theorems which characterize the covering properties Hurewicz, strongly star ...

Some new star-selection principles in topology
Summary: Motivated by the recent works of Kočinac who initiated investigation of star selection principles, we introduce and study some new types of star-selection principles. Also some open problems are posed.

Heartbeat stars and the ringing of tidal pulsations [PDF]
With the advent of high precision photometry from satellites such as Kepler and CoRoT, a whole new layer of interesting and astounding astronomical objects has been revealed: heartbeat stars are an example of such objects. Heartbeat stars are eccen- tric

Photometric redshifts for the CFHTLS T0004 Deep and Wide fields [PDF]
We compute photometric redshifts based on the template-fitting method in the fourth public release of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey. This unique multi-colour catalogue comprises u*,g',r',i',z' photometry in four deep fields of 1 deg2 ...

Declining Volatility, a General Property of Disparate Systems: From Fossils, to Stocks, to the Stars
There may be structural principles pertaining to the general behavior of systems that lead to similarities in a variety of different contexts. Classic examples include the descriptive power of fractals, the importance of surface area to volume ...

Scouting the spectrum for interstellar travellers
Advanced civilizations capable of interstellar travel, if they exist, are likely to have advanced propulsion methods. Spaceships moving at high speeds would leave a particular signature which could be detected from Earth. We propose a search based on the
