Interpretation of star test pattern images
Medical Physics, 1977The star test pattern image contains a large amount of information about the focus OTF which is not presently used. A mathematical analysis of these images for the special case of separable and symmetrical focal spots is presented. Circular blur loci are identified and their changes over the imaging field are described.

Minimum entropy restoration of star field images
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 1998In this correspondence, we present an algorithm for restoration of star field images by incorporating both the minimum mean square error and the maximum varimax criteria. It is assumed that the point spread function of the distortion system can be well approximated by a Gaussian function.
