Saturistors and low starting current induction motors
Electrical Engineering, 1962By the use of a hard magnetic material, such as alnico, in the leakage-flux paths of the secondary circuits of an induction motor, a remarkably high locked-rotor torque per ampere can be obtained without the sacrifice of full-load speed.

Gyrotron Operation in the ‘No-Start-Current’ Zone
2018 43rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2018It is conventionally assumed that the gyrotrons can operate either in the regime of soft self-excitation, where the beam current exceeds the start current, or in the regime of hard excitation, where the beam current is lower than the start current. The authors have found one more possibility of gyrotron operation: in the region where there is no start ...

Starting currents in coaxial gyro-BWO
13th International Crimean Conference Microwave and Telecommunication Technology, 2003. CriMiCo 2003., 2003In this paper, we conducted theoretical investigation of coaxial BWO, operating at resonance of relativistic electron beam (REB) with back wave on the normal Doppler effect (gyro-BWO). Linear theory of exciting process is presented. The dependence of starting current values upon the coaxial waveguide length and the electron beam energy is investigated.

Computation of Start Oscillation Current in a gyrotron
2008 International Conference on Recent Advances in Microwave Theory and Applications, 2008Gyrotron is a high power microwave device intensively developed for heating of plasma in thermonuclear fusion research. The relativistic gyrating electron beam interacts with transverse electric (TE) wave near cutoff in a uniform section of tapered cavity resonator at a DC magnetic field helps to excite several modes simultaneously.

Analysis of Starting Characteristics of Direct-Current Motors
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1917In this paper are derived the mathematical expressions for the current, speed, torque and power at any time during the accelerating period when a shunt, series or compound motor is connected to a supply line.

Implementation of the direct torque control (DTC) in current model, with current starting limiter
CONIELECOMP 2012, 22nd International Conference on Electrical Communications and Computers, 2012This paper presents the scheme of Direct Torque Control (DTC) for induction motor drives, where flux and torque of the motor are estimated by the IM current model. Its scheme requires the knowledge of speed, rotor time constant and inductive parameters of the motor.

Starting Currents in the Backward-Wave Oscillator
Journal of Applied Physics, 1953The starting current of a simple model of the backward-wave oscillator described by Kompfner and Williams has been calculated. The effect of space charge is included. The starting current I0 may be written in the form I0=4V0Z0[a0(4QC)2πN]3,where V0 is the beam voltage, Z0 is the impedance of the circuit, N is the length of the oscillator in wave ...

An Automatic Constant Current Starting of Thyristor Controlled Direct Current Motor
IETE Journal of Research, 1973With the development of large power thyristors, thyristor-controlled direct current motors are finding wide applications in almost all fields where precise speed control is necessary. Much work has been carried out on the speed control of such motors and also some work has been done on their automatic starting1–5.

Inverter motor with sinusoidal starting currents
[Proceedings] APEC '91: Sixth Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exhibition, 2002A power converter circuit for motor applications without substantial additional expenditure at the power circuit, with the exception of the DC link chokes, compared to the conventional inverter motor is presented. The circuit operates as a cycloconverter at start-up and low frequencies of the motor, and as a current source inverter at high speeds.

Soft starting simulation of direct-current motor
2011 International Conference on Electric Information and Control Engineering, 2011For the limitations of direct starting and step starting of DC motor, a soft starting method is designed, and modeled the simulation models based on dynamic simulation software MATLAB/SIMULINK to separately excited DC motor, calculated and set the parameters, obtained the simulation results.
