A New Hybrid Control for STATCOM
2011 IEEE Electronics, Robotics and Automotive Mechanics Conference, 2011The design, construction and test of a new hybrid control for static compensators (STATCOM) is presented. It uses a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) to synchronize the STATCOM with an AC system that may exhibit frequency variations. The control also schedules the firing of the converter valves in order to achieve the reactive power compensation ...

The potential for power quality problem mitigation through STATCOM (BESS-STATCOM)
2018Consideration of spatial and temporal diversity of EV charging demand has been demonstrated to reduce the estimating impacts on the distribution networks. The data formulation is based on impact studies of Electrical vehicles (EV s) on distribution networks.

Multilevel Converter Topologies for STATCOMs
2014To implement the STATCOMs for transmission and distribution applications, high power converters are needed. A multilevel converter is a logical choice for such applications as it can meet the imposed line side current and voltage harmonic distortion standards without extending its device ratings.

Converter and Output Filter Topologies for STATCOMs
2014This chapter reviews different converter topologies and output filter configurations used in STATCOM applications. The output voltage and harmonic control of a STATCOM is obtained by individual control of each switch in the STATCOM. Several converter topologies can be considered for STATCOMs.
