State of charge estimator for NiMH batteries

Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2003
A state of charge estimator for Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, suitable for hybrid vehicles automotive applications, is proposed. The estimator is based on a statespace dynamic model of the battery which is obtained by modeling the kinetic of reactions and the diffusion phenomena.

Combination Algorithm for State of Charge Estimation

2013 International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies, 2013
When using the Ah counting method to estimate state of charge of battery on electric vehicle, it is difficult to measure the initial SOC, and will bring accumulated errors. In order to solve the above problem, we design an algorithm which integrates the open circuit voltage method (OCV), Kalman filter (KF) and Ah counting method (Ah) in this paper ...

Review of Battery State-of-Charge Estimation Algorithms

2021
State of charge (SOC) is an important parameter used by a battery management system (BMS). Accurate and robust algorithms ensure the safe and reliable functioning of cells or batteries. Thus far, the algorithms developed depend mainly on the current and voltage data received from individual cells or the entire battery.

EV battery state of charge: neural network based estimation

IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2003. IEMDC'03., 2003
Different electric vehicles (EV) types have been developed with the aim of solving pollution problems caused by the emission of gasoline-powered engines. Environmental considerations promote the adoption of EV for urban transportation. As it is well known one of the weakest points of electric vehicle is the battery system.

Estimating the state of charge of a battery

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2004
This brief considers the state of charge (SOC) estimation problem for electrochemical batteries. Using an electric circuit model of the battery given in the literature, it is shown how the open-circuit voltage (which is directly related to the SOC) can be estimated based on the terminal voltage and current measurements provided there is sufficient ...

Robust optimal estimation over networks: Application to battery state of charge estimation

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2015
SummaryIn this paper, we provide a general framework for robust optimal estimation over a lossy and delayed network. A threshold principle is introduced to integrate network‐induced uncertainties into packet losses, which are modeled with a Bernoulli process.

State of Charge Estimator Design for a Gas Charged Hydraulic Accumulator

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2015
The gas charged hydraulic accumulators under consideration are used as energy storage devices in automotive hydraulic hybrid systems. The knowledge of the state of charge (SOC) is of utmost importance for an efficient energy management of the hybrid drive-train. Since the direct measurement of the SOC is difficult and costly, an SOC estimator design is

State of charge estimation and battery balancing control

2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015
In this paper, we propose an algorithm to solve the balancing problem of multi-cell battery systems consisting in the equalization of all cells state of charge (SoC). A nonlinear cell model is presented and experimental LiFePO4 battery cell parameters are used.

Quantum neural network for State of Charge estimation

2014 6th International Conference on Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ICITEE), 2014
State of Charge (SoC) estimation is one of the most important parts of Battery Management System (BMS). Inaccurate estimation of SoC may cause overcharge or overdischarge which could lead permanent damage to battery cells. Neural Network (NN) models can yield quite accurate SoC estimation. However, the computation effort is also quite huge and it takes
