Maximum efficiency of a linear-optical Bell-state analyzer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In a photonic realization of qubits the implementation of quantum logic is rather difficult due the extremely weak interaction on the few photon level. On the other hand, in these systems interference is available to process the quantum states.

Schaefer's theorem for graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Schaefer's theorem is a complexity classification result for so-called Boolean constraint satisfaction problems: it states that every Boolean constraint satisfaction problem is either contained in one out of six classes and can be solved in polynomial ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Declaratively solving Google Code Jam problems with Picat

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we present several examples of solving algorithmic problems from the Google Code Jam programming contest with Picat programming language using declarative techniques: constraint logic programming and tabled logic programming.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Validation of the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System for the Elbow, Wrist, and Finger Joints in Children With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to validate the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System (PAUSS) for upper extremity joints in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Methods Children with JIA were evaluated for elbow, wrist, or finger arthritis by clinical examination (CE) and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) with images scored according to the ...

Quantifiers, Disjunction, and Truth-Values with Two Numbers

open access: yesPraxis Filosófica
Context: Cognitive studies seem to show that two kinds of tasks are controversial. Both have a quantified premise, a quantified conclusion, and a disjunction in the premise.
