Dynamic and static buckling assessment of an echinodome
Computers & Structures, 1993Abstract The paper examines theoretically the buckling behaviour of an echinodome—an optimum form of axisymmetric shell of revolution. The types of loading considered are of a concentrated nature applied axisymmetrically and symmetrically. Firstly static buckling behaviour is studied followed by dynamic buckling.

A Proposal for Source Code Assessment Through Static Analysis
2020 IEEE Frontiers in Education Conference (FIE), 2020This Research to Practice Work in Progress paper presents a proposal for source code assessment through static analysis. The presence of computation is constantly growing in the contemporaneous world, and in that way, the demand for professionals capable to develop and maintain software is also in constant growth.

Vulnerability Assessment of Static Power Grids
2011This chapter develops a vulnerability evaluation method for transmission lines in static power grids using vulnerability theory. It first proposes an integrated vulnerability index considering both average electric transmission distances of active powers over the entire network and local balances of reactive powers.

Uncovering the dynamic in static assessment interaction
Child Language Teaching and Therapy, 2012Traditional approaches to standardized assessment are underpinned by the assumption that between-assessor variation in delivery can effectively be eliminated. However, fine-grained analyses of the administration of such assessments (e.g. Maynard and Marlaire, 1992 ) have established that significant subtle interactional variations occur even in ...

Reliability assessment for static electricity meters
Ninth International Conference on Metering and Tariffs for Energy Supply, 1999The reliability of static electricity meters is of vital importance to both the users of energy and providers of energy. It is also of extreme importance to designers and manufacturers. An electricity meter, unlike other electronic equipment, is permanently on circuit, is connected directly to mains without any protection, works in an unattended ...

Damage assessment for a awning beam by changes in the static displacement
2012 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2012Using the static displacement data, this paper presented a damage assessment method for a awning beam. This method is based on the estimation of changes in the static displacement of the structure. The most significant advantage of the method is that it does not require development of an analytical model of the structure being tested.

Design and assessment of a novel static mixer
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2010AbstractThis paper examines the performance of a novel static mixer comprising a circular tube fitted with eight alternating equi‐spaced semicircular rigid insert (baffles) as the mixer elements. Experiments were carried out to obtain the coefficient of variance (CoV) for the mixing of two streams of water and brine for Reynolds number between 60 and ...

Functional Assessment of HDL: Moving Beyond Static Measures for Risk Assessment
Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 2010of cardiovascular disease events in 27,748 apparently healthy women [1]. After 11-years, fully-adjusted hazard ratios associated with lower levels of HDL cholesterol were 1.00, 1.18 (0.90–1.53), 1.32 (1.01–1.72), 1.50 (1.15–1.96), and 1.66 (1.26–2.19 ...

Threat Assessment: Static and Dynamic Analyses
1997Every nation has to guard against threats from other countries. These threats can be in the form of direct military attacks, covert disruptive activities and propaganda against the government. Any direct or indirect action by other countries which conflicts with the interests of a country can be viewed as a threat to that country. It is evident that to

Developing and Evaluating Static Assessment Rig Criteria for the Functional Assessment of Driving
2009Due to the increasing number of older drivers in most Western countries, reliable and valid functional assessment of fitness to drive is becoming ever more important. Research to define appropriate thresholds for tests on a static assessment rig (SAR) is described here.
