Static behavior analysis of disc spring considering variable static friction coefficient

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2021
The object of this fundamental research will be to reveal the effects of variable coefficient of static friction on the static behavior of disc spring. On account of the complex relationship between friction and normal pressure, based on contact mechanics and fractal theory, a model for predicting variable coefficient of static friction of 3 D fractal

Static and dynamic coefficient of friction in friction pairs of disc-pad brakes

Bulletin of Kharkov National Automobile and Highway University, 2022
Problem This scientific article is devoted to the value of static and dynamic coefficients of friction of disc-pad brakes. The issue of disc-pad brake wear is very acute because the safety of using the machine itself depends on its reliable operation. Therefore, the relevance of the chosen topic cannot be doubted. Goal.

Static coefficient of rolling friction under heating

Journal of Friction and Wear, 2013
The effect of heating, the normal load, and the radii of the members in contact on the static coefficient of rolling friction is considered. The design of a new apparatus for measuring the parameters of rolling friction over an inclined plane at elevated temperatures is presented. A need to specify the effect of the type of the materials in contact, as

Measurement of static friction coefficient between flat surfaces

Wear, 1996
Abstract An experimental device, called the centrifugal friction apparatus (CFA), was developed which is capable of measuring the static coefficient of friction, μ, between flat surfaces with very low normal forces. Experiments were performed with the CFA using the polished surface of n-type arsenic doped silicon wafers to investigate static ...

Coefficients of static friction under statically and dynamically applied loads

Wear, 1961
Abstract The coefficient of static friction under static loads with normal pressures of about 10,000 p.s.i. and under dynamically applied loads ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 p.s.i. were determined. The test apparatus was so arranged that dynamically applied normal and tangential loads are applied simultaneously. Results are given for combinations of

Coefficients of Friction: Static Versus Dynamic

2020 Joint Rail Conference, 2020
Abstract This paper deals with the problem of static and dynamic (or kinetic) friction, namely the coefficients of friction for the two states. The coefficient of static friction is well known, and its theory and practice are commonly accepted by the academia and the industry.

Determination of the static friction coefficient from circular motion

Physics Education, 2014
This paper describes a physics laboratory exercise for determining the coefficient of static friction between two surfaces. The circular motion of a coin placed on the surface of a rotating turntable has been studied. For this purpose, the motion is recorded with a high-speed digital video camera recording at 240 frames s−1, and the videos are analyzed

Effect of Bushing Miniaturization on the Static Friction Coefficient

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2016
Abstract As machines become smaller, friction plays an increasingly important role in their performance. Although friction is a well-studied phenomenon, few studies have been performed on bushings and shafts with loads of a few tens of mN and dimensions of a few mm.

Effect of static correlations on the pair friction coefficient

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1980
A calculation of the spatial dependence of the pair friction tensors ζij(r12), (i, j=1,2) for two hard sphere solute particles in a hard sphere fluid is presented. The calculation is based on a kinetic theory expression for the pair friction tensor. The contribution from dynamically uncorrelated collisions is computed here.

Measurements of the Static Friction Coefficient Between Bone and Muscle Tissues

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 2010
This study aimed at measuring the static coefficient of friction (μ) between bone and skeletal muscle tissues in order to support finite element (FE) modeling in orthopaedic and rehabilitation research, where such contact conditions need to be defined.
