The Effect of Polish Maintenance on Static Coefficient of Friction [PDF]

The static coefficient of friction (μs) of polishes, measured by the James machine and ASTM D2047, provides a measure of the inherent slip resistance of the polish film. When in use, polish films are invariably modified by traffic and routine maintenance procedures that could, theoretically, change the inherent slip resistance of the film.

Study of the static coefficient of friction of fishing cordage on a friction gear drum [PDF]

Fiction interaction of fishing cordage and a friction gear drum under the preliminary displacement on the contact arc by 40–720° is studied. In all experiments, similar pressure of the cordage on the drum surface is ensured. Formulas for the static coefficient of friction are obtained for any angle of the contact arc.

An identification method for static and dynamic friction coefficients

This paper deals with the identification of static and dynamic friction coefficients. An approach based on limit cycles properties once a regulated mechanical system is brought to oscillations is proposed. This leads to an explicit formulation in the regulator parameters on one part, and the oscillation amplitude and period on the other part.
