Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.

The Effect of Interfacial Properties and Liquid Flow on the Stability of Powder Islands

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
This study aims at understanding the interplay between the interfacial properties of the powder grains and the characteristics of the liquid flow used to disperse them, in order to obtain an effective dispersion of a powder in a liquid, avoiding air ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Research on the Hydrophobicity of Square Column Structures on Monocrystalline Silicon Fabricated Using Micro-Machining

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
The theoretical prediction models of contact angle were constructed by considering the interface free energy. Then, the square column structure on monocrystalline silicon was fabricated using micro-milling.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Determination of melon seed physical parameters and calibration of discrete element simulation parameters.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
To improve the accuracy of the Hami melon discrete element model, the parameters of the Hami melon seed discrete element model were calibrated by combining practical experiments and simulation tests. The basic physical parameters of Hami melon seeds were

Loaded tooth contact analysis of intersected beveloid and cylindrical involute gear pair with small shaft angle

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2018
A working pitch cone based geometry design approach for the intersected beveloid and cylindrical involute gear pair with small shaft angle was proposed. The cutter and geometry design parameters can be determined by the proposed method.

Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.

Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Plasma‐Assisted Hybrid Friction Stir Welded Dissimilar Aluminum–Copper Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Plasma‐assisted hybrid friction stir welding of dissimilar AlCu joints employs localized plasma preheating to balance heat input and enhance plastic flow. The optimized process reduces axial force by up to 35%, refines the microstructure, and achieves ≈96% joint efficiency.
