Oscillation-induced static deflection in scanning force microscopy
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2007Employing an atomic force microscope (AFM) in conjunction with a quartz crystal microbalance, we have investigated how a high-frequency lateral oscillation of the substrate influences the imaging process of the AFM. It was found that the time-averaged deflection of the cantilever (both vertical and lateral) changed when the oscillation of the quartz ...

Static Deflection Behavior of a Piezoelectric Forceps
Dynamic Systems and Control, Volumes 1 and 2, 2003A model is described for predicting quasi-static behavior of a piezoelectric forceps actuator (PFA), which consists of two slightly curved composite beams with bonded piezoelectric layers. The PFA is an innovative medical device that is potentially useful for minimum invasive surgery.

Study on Static Deflection Model of MEMS Capacitive Microwave Power Sensors
Chinese journal of electronics— In this paper, a static deflection model of MEMS cantilever beam is proposed, which can better study the force deformation of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) cantilever beam and the output characteristics of capacitive microwave power sensor ...

Quadrature Solutions for Large Deflection Static Cable Problems
Volume 4A: Structures, Safety and Reliability, 2014It is shown that solutions to the governing equations for arbitrarily large static deflections of cables obeying any elastic law can be reduced to quadratures for four general types of distributed loadings. These solutions are given in closed form and ways of using them are discussed.

Deflection of statically indeterminate structures
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1982Abstract The traditional procedure for employing the virtual work equation to calculate structural deflections of statically indeterminate structures requires the solution of the internal action state of the structure to be available or to be calculable.
